I've said that before, I'd rather give up to get rid of crap contracts. - SABRES 89
Not sure if a team would do that. But Okposo say is limited this offseason, as his NTC goes to a limited no trade.
Wonder if there is any takers for bogosian and scandella for late round picks on the last year of their contracts. |

Agreed. We need to lose one or two of ours.
I'd be fine giving away our late first and okposo for nothing, literally nothing. - Mentalorgasm5
his cap-hit isn't killing hem next season...maybe not even the season after...they still need to add to the pipeline or they can use that pick in another Montour-type trade...at this point, there's no need to throw that first-rounder away, imo |

That extra 6 million free this year could be used on something much more valuable than a late first though. Plus I'd rather do it when we still have a 1st in the draft.
This is shaping up to be one of the better UFA classes. Not saying we land any of them, but an extra 6 million would help. |

For the sake of argument, say Skinner gets done at $8.5
That's 16/22 players with $17.5 to go in cap space
5/17.5 = 3.something per player. We're not getting anyone good if he and Bogo are still here |

Brock Nelson would be a perfect fit here, maybe the third time is the charm with former Isles. |

Imagine moving out Risto for youth, Okposo and SJS 1st for nothing, and then taking that money and giving 13 to 14 to Karlsson(and yes I would give him that much)

Well, he was like 8x as bad as the rest if the Dmen combined.
Coupled with an inability to play 2 systems
An inability to play a solid transition game
He is horrible.
Addition by subtraction with him. - IonSabres
I won't try and defend him, because he was pretty bad...but that horrible defense was led by a coach who was incapable of coaching defense and was backstopped by goalies who couldn't stop a beachball in 2019 |

who would you spend that $6 million on?...I agree there will be free agents, but you're always overpaying and more often than not, that free agent never lives up to his big salary--see okposo |

Unless the Sabres start working in some guys who can produce along with having a fair amount of physicality to their game, we will all be female doging in April like Toronto and Lightning fans.
The more I watch the playoffs the more I think our team is being built with both mentally soft and physically soft players. Perhaps fun to watch for 82 games, then fold under pressure and the intensity of playoff hockey.

His 5 on 5 goals against per 60, which takes away his disadvantages against his peers ranks him dead last among Sabre regulars.
Per hour, he’s scored on the most - sbroads24
Well, yes. Thats why his plus/minus is so bad despite his goal scoring on the PP. |

who you going after?...how much will it cost?...
unless they need to open up space in a trade, july 1 free agents usually aren't worth the cost

Was kind of surprising with Smith having been added as their "D coordinator". He had a solid reputation coaching the D. He must not have been able to figure it out, or the whole D is |

no that cant be right I was told the other day by someone that they would rather have talent than any grit.....
I fully agree, we are way to soft to play against right now.... we better start bringing in guys that have a little grit.. we would be out of the playoffs in 4 games with this team. |

from what I was able to piece together from botts, he mentioned a poor d on a number of occasions, but elliotte friedman implied that the sabres may want to retain smith...that tells me Housley had his hands all over this group |
