No protection for the skill players, teams will take liberties. Maybe Gad's is someone who might fill that role down the road. - VanHockeyGuy
He got into another scrap yesterday. I think that is 5 this season.

We'll see, they have no answer (other than whining) for Bostons rough play, really hoping Kadri is gone for 6. - Makita
And BOS literally had no answer for TO's speed game as it was in GM 1. Gonna be interesting to see how it plays out speed vs toughness.
Boston is Gary's team so Kadri very well may get 6 games lol |

I hope their days as contenders are done and they fade into obscurity for the remainder of their careers - NorthNuck
I'm not a Crosby hater as the guy is so dedicated and has the hardware to prove his place in history.
But like most great teams they eventually sputter even with top talent. It is what it is.

If VAN wants to have a chance in the playoffs they need someone like that. Look how Tampa's getting manhandled. - VanHockeyGuy
Depends on the coach. Torts fires them up to play like that, give WD that same roster and Iād bet good money that they donāt play nearly as physical. |

I am a believer that Willie's coaching style set Virtanen back a couple years, as his ice time was reduced after that hit, on Polak, that got him a 2 game suspension.
Jake appeared to be playing much softer since and only hits with an impact at a fraction of what he is capable of, since the scolding of Super soft Willie. |

So because everyone thought TB should win and they aren't, analytics is stupid?
Analytics have been predicting the hurricanes take the next step, they're down 3-0. That's probably a better target. - belcherbd
Them making the playoffs was the next step. |

I don't think its in Brock or Petey's to play that over-physical style of hockey, playoffs or not, but guess we won't know till we see them in it. Sedin's were the same way in the playoffs, I can't remember them doing much of anything physical when playoffs were happening. - Codes1087
Yeah Brock is a massive pu$$y - the dude got ripped and plays Charmin soft - him and Petey/line will never play that way.
BUT I can see Horvat/Pearson and ??? being able to do that in a playoff setting. I guess we'll never know |

PIT the same. They have absolutely no answer to NYI's 4th line, and Gudbranson (im assuming the penguins toughest guy), is getting hit every opportunity, even injured in game 2, and the pens have no response. - Codes1087
I see what you guys are saying, but itās much more that the top lines are being shut down than the ten minute per night checking lines. |

You mean the Islanders 4th line that has been playing 13-14 minutes per night? |

I don't get a "soft" vibe from EP at all. He's weak in terms of strength, but he goes to the front of the net, battles with heavier forwards, he even threw some decent hits once in awhile. I feel like he's in the Gaudreau/Kane mold, might not be a threat at all physically, but doesn't play scared and isn't afraid to give a little slash or hit when they're pissed off.
Same with Quinn Hughes. I actually think he and EP have more of a swagger than Bo/Brock.

Me too - I (frank)ing hate the Pens, but they had a great run.
Now they're in cap hell, littered with NTC/NMCs - got 5 core vets on the wrong side of 30. Have zero prospects, no 2,3,4 picks this year, a whiny rat-faced goalie, the only bright spot is Guentzel but what would he be like without the big boys feeding him.
I wonder how long until we start hearing trade the stars??? |

Its not in his game but yes he is - he's the Chuck Yeager of fly bys, zero push back, he got rag-dolled in a game this year - it was the first time I've ever seen him in a scrum. Forget who it was against? |

are we talking about his defensive game, his ability to hit/be hit, or his ability to get in the middle of scrums? I'm not disagreeing with you, just trying to understand what part of his game you are referring to. |

they do for sure - I hope Bo starts to hit more in the future. Interested to see how he plays if we ever make it back to the POs.
Petey will actually push back and as the year went on he started to hit a little, more so rubbing guys out, but it wasnt too aggressive. I think when he gets a little more comfortable in the league and bigger he'll start taking his frustration out on people instead of on the bench. He got a temper for sure. |
