Top 6 wingers is the other big problem but can be done by committee. Not a great thing but easier to fix.

We cannot have Hutton Biega & Schenn all in the mix & expect much production.
LW sniper is a big hole.
More top 6 playmaking needed.

Hutton improved but is behind Hughes & Edler with OJ nearing readiness to take his job. If he doesn’t see that coming & only Edler retiring gives him an opportunity to be fulltime that’s not good for him. He is not a top 4 LHD. The contract he wants won’t be justified. Trade him is his & our only option. Schenn is fine as a 6-7 stop gap D. Biega plays out of necessity further exacerbating the problem our need for a top 4 RHD.

RHD is a BIG problem & is not easily fixed nor cheap in any trade. Trouba stands out but at what cost? Fox is my choice but til we know if he’s looking for top 4 minutes which he would get here or is it a team specific reason he won’t sign in Carolina is yet TBD. Stecher as a top 2 RHD is weak if Tanev is moved & why Tanev is more valuable to us than to other teams. I can live with him as top 4 but even that isn’t awe inspiring. He’s a gutsy hard worker but that is his max ceiling if even that. If he can consistently hit 40 pts then he fits. Woo could be a future top 4 but that’s 2-3yrs away & good depth looking ahead. Rafferty & Teves are interesting signings. Rafferty probably groomed as a 3rd pair RHD. Teves maybe as a bottom pairing LHD ir 7th. Neither imo have top 4 potential nor a realistic opportunity to be one.

A healthy Sven is a top 6 or 9 LW but his conc history is concerning. Pearson suits me fine in a top 6 LW role. Leivo top 9 unless a full season of growth dictates otherwise but i don’t expect him being top 6. Lind on the farm is getting better. He could be a top 9 LW unless he breaks out & pushes for top 6. That’s a lofty hope.

RW is ok with BB & leaves it to JV to get it together. Gads gets his skating on par with NHL standards could be a fine top 9-12 winger. Jury is out on if he ever makes it. If he pans out then good net front presence option & the size to be a 3rd wheel for grit & protection.

Summary:
Trades are needed. Hutton gone
Draft more RHD-Soderstrom Seider
LW needs a healthy sniper
RW somebody has to take the ball
Prospects are ok but not earth shaking making impact as top 6 F or top 4 D.

Madden Rathbone are looking great.
