No 40 goal scorers don’t grow on trees but we were rumoured on both JVR and Pacioretty this year and either would of scored 40 on Jack’s wing this year. Heck even E.Kane probably would of potted 35 while bringing a physical presence and play in all situations including PK. Skinner is not worth $2M more per year then E.Kane.

I like Skinner, hope he stays, but I’m not surprised one bit Botts hasn’t gotten him signed yet if that’s the kind of money he’s looking for and I don’t blame him.

We're not having this conversation if Skinner would've been taken care of during the season. He was already here and seemingly liked it here. UFAs will have to be convinced through piles of cash or nebulous promises to come here.

JB can make trades but for anyone really worth it, you're spending good assets. This team does not seem to be in the driver seat for either scenario.

Build your studs through the draft, use assets to build around them, and use FA to fill gaps.
Then only when one player away from contending, use OS's where the payment in draft picks is late first and/or seconds rather than a potential string of top 3 OA's

Hoffman had a 70 point season and didn’t play even strength with Barkov and only had Trocheck for like 30 games this season. Kyle Connor finished with the same amount of points as Skinner and is 4 years younger. Debrincant almost finished with a PPG in year 2 or possibly 3 in the league and is only going to get better. We will be paying Skinner for what he’s going to do next year and beyond, not what he accomplished this past season with the best shooting percentage in his career.

It was still a fun season for the players and fans until the post season, which does have meaning so it was not all for nothing


Hell it's been 12 years since we had a season like that, and I would much rather have that and get bounced then the sh!t show we have watched for the last 950 regular season games
