Oh yeah, no kidding. I love SF, but it's absolutely insane down there to get a place.

People who think traffic in NY is worse than in LA have never been to LA.

When I was like 11 (this is 1988) my other Uncle picked me and my sister up from LAX pretty late in the evening. I asked him if we could drive around LA because there was very little traffic and I figured we could see a lot of touristy poop (even I knew at that age about their traffic). He was adamantly against this which kind of bothered me. A few years later, I realized why he didn’t want to do it: that area was so bad, crime wise, it would have actually been dangerous for us to drive around there like 11 at night.
Jesus Christ I hear you. I did a one-year postdoc at UC Davis and Jesus (frank)ing Christ they're nuts even there in the northern part of the state. At one point I was driving to SJ doing like 95 and I was the slowest (frank)er on the road by some margin - lumlums

Hahaha, basically. We went there 4 summers in a row and I used to love looking at maps when I was a kid so I think I was just trying to finagle a longer ride.
