I remember reading somewhere he has some kind of poison pill in his contract that if he got fired they would have to pay him some obscene amount of money or something like that. Wang really hooked him up before he died

Also the two host Andrew Peters & Craig Rivet were busting Roenicks chops to ask Snow about the 1st rd sweep Roenick actually said when they first met up in the morning he said to Snow "How about the Isles" and Snow was like "Yeah" I was dying

In a season where not much was to be expected and you sweep the Pens in the 1st round and thats his comment..... Holy (frank).

That's why they didn't kick his arse out the door when Lou came on board. He is basically getting paid to golf and sit at the draft table holding Lou's clip board for the draft

1 goal in 4 games and that was an empty netter He has made some nice passes leading to goals but for 11 million a year he has to score more goals then that. Maybe they can play a non playoff team so he can score 3 or 4 goals

The reality is that the isles team defense is far superior to the leafs. Noone in Toronto is addressing it, but their D is terrible.

His biggest downfall was his loyalty to Cappy. I would argue on paper, you had a better team just a few years ago. Amazing what can be done with a team when the coach has an IQ above a carrot

Why didn't they just let him go? He is like the official Isles lawn jockey
- mdw7413

I can't remember if it was Twitter or elsewhere, but Staple had said that Snow hasn't been seen around the Islanders at all. This was a week or two ago when there were the rumors about Snow joining the Panthers.

He's effectively just collecting a paycheck for nothing. I hope they make him mop up Beauvillier's jizz off of his dime-piece GF in order to collect a paycheck

Absolutely his biggest downfall was his insecurities when it came to hiring an NHL coach. In all his time here he never hired a Head Coach with NHL experience. Everybody he hired was a buddy of his and he knew they wouldn't give him any sh!t and were just happy to be coaching in the NHL.

Here's a good read on that, from yesterday:

https://www.sny.tv/island...-cup-contenders/306345096

just the relevant portion:

More recently, Isles co-owner Jon Ledecky sat at a podium at the team's Long Island practice facility barely one year ago and apologized to the fan base for an 80-point finish and a second straight playoff miss, blowing all momentum and goodwill earned from the franchise's first playoff series advancement in 23 years in 2016.

GM Garth Snow and coach Doug Weight sat alongside Ledecky, a full indication they'd be staying, and Snow insulted the fan base further by suggesting he had constructed a team that he believed was ready to compete for a Stanley Cup.

At my former employer, I wrote a column shredding Snow for that delusion, and even with this spring's immediate success, there is no reason to back off claims that it was time for Snow to be removed from the post he'd held for 11 seasons, with just three playoffs appearances to show for it.

The constant excuse-making over injuries and arena issues and Snow's smarmy smarter-than-everyone defiance and stubbornness had beyond run its course, especially after a year in which his decade-long rebuilding plan had resulted in another sub-.500 record and the most goals allowed in the league.

This is not to say that Garth hadn't uncovered several gems in the draft during his tenure, and he gets credit then and now for much of the current team's composition. Of course he does.

But let's face it, Snow -- and ownership - deserve their fair share of blame for the mishandling of the Tavares situation and the ultimate departure of Mr. "We Don't Need You" in July.

There also was no way Snow ever would have been secure enough to hire a pedigreed coach such as Trotz after years of sticking with organizational buddies Scott Gordon, Jack Capuano and Weight to run the bench over the previous decade. Is there a more stinging indictment of Snow and Weight than the worst-to-first goals against transformation under their replacements with much of the same cast?

Principal owner Scott Malkin undoubtedly made the right and necessary decision in pursuing and bringing in Lamoriello, the no-nonsense Devils legend, as team president after the Maple Leafs no longer had any use for the 76-year-old Hall of Famer.

Just as Lamoriello made the correct moves to replace Snow with himself and Weight with Trotz upon taking over in May.

I love the fact that he is nowhere to be found around the Isles. I can't imagine what Weight has been up to

Who cares. What a bunch of absolute (frank)heads. Snow's probably sitting on top of Wang's grave pounding off and thanking him for his current no-show job.

It wasn't just Capuano......it was 12 years of hiring friends instead of the best available coach for the team. Its astounding to me what we're seeing with a top coach, after losing 40 goals this offseason.

Makes sense why he couldn't even muster anything beyond "Yeah". I thought it was more loyalty but apparently he is like Linus without his blanket

All the d Corp and barzal beau Lee bailey eberle are snow but he never gave them the coach to get it to the next level and that was his downfall. Also as an aside remember when we were all pissed lou didn't get a big f.a. at the deadline

I like when people defend him and use things like that as examples. He was the (frank)ing GM, it was his job to make this team better and he didn't. Had he not done any of that he would have been the worst GM in the history of professional sports that wouldn't have been fit to manage an bantam travel team

Imagine someone defending a surgeon by saying "Well yeah he wasn't great but like three of his patients lived so you have to give him a little credit"?

#Isles Barry Trotz says no update on either Johnny Boychuk or Cal Clutterbuck. Team did not practice today. He did not see them around the facility. He adds Tanner Fritz (hand) is getting close, presumably not in terms of playing though.
