I never said spend to the cap.
How did you derive that from my posts? - Nighthawk
I pointed out that signing Panarin puts you dangerously close to the cap, if signed at 9.5 and all the others got the conservative # I used.
With what some may get signing Panarin at that price could put the team over the cap.
As I said, I want the buffer because of the Luongo situation.
So, a team that is in the middle of the pack, of non-playoff teams would be at or over the cap limit. |

Of the 30m cap space next year...
Boeser 6/7m
Edler 2/6m
Panarin 7/9.5m maybe 10m
Edler will be a year by year situation afterwards. EP & Hughes will then be up for big deals. The cap will be about $90+m by then. Most other contracts are off the books & who is extended or signed will be crucial. Therein lies the meat of handling the cap. |

I agree a buffer for a possible Lui retirement is prudent but i fully expect LTIR will occur for him. |

Lugongo has legit hip issues and wants to play still , i would be shocked if we ever get a re-capture penalty, if we could get away from the LE contract it would give some more flexability. |

I don't know much about his coaching style but I am liking TG and his learning. He wants to be hard to play against and that's playoff hockey. |

What does Leivo, Demko, Schenn and Rafferty sign For?
Nevermind the other free Agents, but those 4 will get re-signed.
Leaves about 3 million, hope to (frank) Luongo doesn't retire or some team doesn't make a cap dump offer any time soon.
You are being closeminded and impatient.
Also, not sure if you have been watching any of the playoffs, but I doubt very much that the Canucks are anywhere close to be competing with any of these guys in the playoffs. |

I believe he will be placed on LTIR as well. Until he has been put on it for all 3 seasons remaining, the possibility still exists that the recapture penalty can be applied.
Also, the Luongo situation isn't really the point of the discussion, the point is, why would anyone want their team to be dangerously close to the cap, when you are years away from being a contender? |

All for minimum raises.
What about who gets traded?
Making the PO’s & competing are not the same. Look at TB & Pitt. |

I know right? In what world would a bottom seed team stand up to power houses like Tampa and the Pens.

the Blackhawks were an up and coming team yet to make the playoffs and they signed Hossa and Khabibulin and won a cup. Key players added at the right time change things fast
it cost them players later because of cap issues but it's all worth it for a cup |

I know right the 5th and 15th lowest paid teams with actual quality throughout the lineup are able to knock off some powerhouses, yet we need to spend to the cap limit to even try make it in.

Is Panarin fill a need & serious good piece?
Do we lose anything if not signed?
Anyone in the pipeline a top 6 winger?
Can we fit him in our cap longterm? |

Show me this cap limit 23 player roster you perceive. I’ll produce mine in a bit. |

i don't think we are a desirable city to Russians , but for only cap cost he could elevate EP and BB to another level , which would make the whole team better. A hot goalie and a dominate 1st line can win in the playoffs, and i would love to see the Nucks young guys take on a playoff team. if the plan is to wait 3-4 more years , then trade Horvat now for picks that will be developed in 3 yrs then |

Soooo, is Eberle a beast? - CubanBuffet
2 Assists in 13 games when EDM made that run a few years back.
Oiler fans and media basically drove him out of town saying he'll never perform in the PO's.

I didn't have time this year for a player pool, but I had Tampa eliminated on the 2nd round, in the team pick pool I am in.
I am going by the handle worstteamever, in the pool setup here. - Reubenkincade
It looks like Columbus is my Cinderella team for the playoffs. |
