d) no number one seeds, apparently
- NewYorkNuck

Well Redmile was in here last week complaining that there was not enough # 8 seeds that ever win. He may get his wish this year with 2 more.

I understand that you feel that way. I don't, and my point was we have to shore up our RHD spots somehow. You could have simply said you think we should be drafting several RHD this draft and you'd prefer that to trading for one. I just think we need another top 4 RHD ASAP and we don't have any coming down the pipe right now
- NorthNuck

Trading for a top 4 RHD will cost you one of your top young players. No team is interested in receiving quantity over quality. So filling one hole will create a new one. This is year 2 of the rebuild and we’re already rushing to get it done faster.

This is karma for the people of Alberta voting an idiot into power. It’l like Forrest Gump always says.

That Benning has been hanging his hat on the Pearson deal so far is trouble. He could have gotten Pearson for Goldy at the start of the year.

I think that was the original thought behind buying low. It's really unfortunate that there's no good RHD free agents this year because realistically that's the only palatable option.

Just saw that Bjornfot will be the main D on Sweden’s PP1 (ahead of Soderstrom & Broberg) at the U18s. Not surprised.

But then we'd still be stuck with Guddy, so good on ya Benning

Just ride it out. Having to over pay in $ and years to get a FA to sign here is a sign not sign any free agent signings.

A good GM would still have off loaded Guddy to a playoff team looking for grit. Islanders, Leafs, TB, Flames

A good GM knows better than to acquire Gudbranson for a playoff run though. Not that the finger can solely be pointed at Guddy for the pens sweep.

He would have made all those teams worse I'm still hoping Goldy can turn it around. Doubtful, but if he does, he has skill.

Other that the Isles (who traded for Martin) all those other GM’s are looking pretty bad right now...

It would not. I went to the soccer game last night and stopped in at Parq for a drink after. I quickly checked hockey buzz and read 5 consecutive posts about offer sheets. I proceeded to order an old fashion and a shot of tequila instead of a pint. This site forces me to drink

Some heavy drinking in here last night.
I also learnt that disagreeing with the pom-pom theory of trading to speed up the 2 year old re-build is verboten. Even if you don't like the idea of trading young players you must propose an equally stupid trade suggestion. Just saying "bad idea" is trolling and offers no hockey incite.
