I think it was the right call because the team tuned Torts out, doesn't matter if Torts was right or wrong, you lose the team coach has to go.

I also thought the whole 6 goalies, everyone blocking shots was kind of boring. I get Torts was doing the best he could with the lack of talent, but it was still boring as (frank) to watch after awhile

What was frustrating is that 2012 team has some serious talent. I know I talk up Gabroik, but we really don't appreciate what Anisimov brought to the table. When Anisimov got away from Torts he really shined. Maybe we didn't have the true top elite guys, but we had way more offensive firepower than what Torts produced.

I think Torts figured it out with Columbus. He has a great defensive structure built in, but lets the offensive players use their talent.

Not implying that Tom actually cares, but I never understood why people gave such a poop about who wears a stupid letter on their chest

you know, we always joke about me hating Hamrlik, and the real reason for that is that I believe Hamrlik directly cost Torts his job here.

I still think it was crazy to fire him after they had just beat Washington in that 7 game series and then they lost to Boston without Staal and Stralman got hurt mid series and he was forced to put that bastard in because he had no other choice.

I am happy to see him finally settled down and doing so well, really seem like Columbus is the perfect city for him.

I liked Torts, especially his pressers.
My view is more that he lost the team than one or two players cost him. Maybe he's mellowed a bit after being tossed from NYR and the Nucks and doesn't beat his team up as bad.

I just dont think Torts deserved to be fired, people forget how great that 2013 first round series was vs Washington and they just had very little chance against Boston with that blueline situation and still made those games close

but I came a big proponent of AV too, difference is, at the end, I believe AV certainly deserved to be fired
