Yeah, I listened to that moron live.
If I were management I would flip out. He needs to call his team out as well as himself. They straight up poop the bed, no other way to put it. - JRR1285
Is it too hot a take now just to say he was never a good coach? I know we rag on AV here, but I don't remember any of AVs teams being that much of a no show and waving the white flag. There was that year we lost to the Pens in 5, but that was one buzzsaw of a team we ran into. I don't think I have ever seen a team that literally has no adjustments in them at all. If plan A doesn't work for them, there is no plan B.

Don't forget then we can try Names again at Center and have that all Ruskie line of Panarin-Names-Kravs.
Be kind of funny we draft Kakko #2 and he could potentially start his career on the 3rd line and actually be a justified decision. - 2sticks1puck
One of the reasons I think Quinn was a great choice as coach. I think he really knows how to coach these younger players. I don't care for his 7 D system(Might actually be Ruff) sometimes, but overall I think he was the right choice for this time

Sure. But that is more of an elite type, not generational.
Crosby, McDavid and Ovechkin. Those are your current generational talents. You could possibly even argue for Malkin (I have myself a few times).
Kucherov is looking like he might insert himself in that conversation if he maintains this level for an extended period. - JRR1285
The funny thing about Malkin is I'm pretty sure his stats went through the roof whenever Crosby went down. If he was "the guy" on a different team, he absolutely would be a generational talent. I think he unfairly gets lost sometimes because Crosby is always going to be tops.

I was thinking the same thing earlier. I am sure you will start to see that take coming out.

That has been my rationale for when I argue in favor of him.
Man it would have been fun for another team to end up with him. Instead the damn Pens get a backup elite 1C for whenever Crosby goes down.
Yeah I was a tiny bit surprised that he didn't want to get out from Crosby's shadow. He seems like a player who wants to lead a team - mdw7413
Maybe he just wanted to win, didn't care if he was the guy. That might speak to him lacking leadership skills etc. Could also have been the language barrier earlier in his career. Doesn't have to be the guy and constantly getting interviewed. I recall Jagr not liking the attention due to the language barrier.

Don't know if you remember much about the 90's teams But Nemchinov never talked to the cameras. Dude was so shy and probably some of it was the language barrier. That just popped in my head for some reason

I don't recall watching a lot of the interviews during that time. I was kind of young and mainly just watched the games.

He's implying Panarin will be playing for the Panthers next year - eichiefs9
Really think there isn't much chance of that. If they sign Bob for over 8 million, I'm not sure where the extra money is to sign him. You'd think he'd at least want to make more than Stone. I was pretty shocked when I looked at their capfriendly. I really thought they had more space that that.
Anyone else have the feeling that Columbus runs over either the Leafs or Boston next round? They seem to have that momentum going that can't be stopped, like the Kings in 2012

I think their next round will be a different story. If they rattled of a string of wins to close out a long series and jumped right into the next one, maybe. But the time off will do them no favors.

His old coach just got hired there. Some of the most trusted hockey reports in the sport have linked him to the state of Florida and the whole tax thing is a factor. So...

Could certainly happen. Torts has that team fired up. I was also wondering if Panarin changes his mind if they keep going.
