This Ovechkin Svechnikov stuff has to stop. Svech was an aggressor, it's not like Ovechkin pulled an Emery v Holtby and pummeled him while he was down and out.

It’s just stupid no matter who initiated it.

Svechnikov is great. He’s hurt

Ovi is great, looked like he hurt his hand.

Just dumb

It might be be or the devils cabbage talking. Random thoughts.

Calgary drafted Sam “no chin up” Bennett, a clearly inferior player to Reinhardt.

Do there fans whinge on the internet about Butt-stink Bennett?? Are they a complete garbage team? Nope.

One reason could be that despite drafting benaty they still worked on developing a solid team. Even a relative underwhelming player like Bennett doesn’t screw them for 4 plus years BEACUSE THEY ACTUALLY DRAF TAND OR SOGN GOOD PLAYERS. MAYBE EVEN TRADE FOR THEM.

Therefore, it’s obvious, that is why the sabres suck dead donkey docks is because they poop the bed and whine about it and don’t go get good players.

-end rant.

Sam Bennett actually had a decent year for his role

I’d obviously take Reinhart easily but I think Bennett will carve out a decent career

Now we get to draft one of Turcotte/Dach/Cozens/Zegras and have Eichel, Dahlin, Reinhart, Mittelstadt and possibly Skinner in place. Just need to add a few vets in the offseason to provide any sort of depth and this team is well on its way. If we get a coach that can have this team playing a well structured game and we get the goaltending we got in the first 30 games for a full 82 we should be in the race.

Ideally you wouldn't want to select a 3rd line energy guy with the 3rd overall pick but oh well. Just happy we didn't take him.

You've sold me on Turcotte. But do you have these four ranked in any particular way? Or would really any of them work for you?

It would keep me up at night if I were a scout. They each bring something different to the table it would honestly come down to team preference. Turcotte plays that 200 ft game like a Barkov, Zegras is a slipperly playmaker like a Barzal, Dach is a fantastic playmaker with his size and could be a Getzlaf, Cozens is pure speed and with his size package I find it really hard to find an NHL comparable off the top of my head but he is pretty exciting as well. If Botts wants to address the wing I think Boldy is like a Pasternak, Caulfield is Debrincant 2.0.

None of these players scream "franchise changer" but they all have top line potential and at the very least are top 6 options on any team in the league once they are devleoped and if they continue to develop at the rate they are in junior.

When you're talking about guys with size and a strong two way game as the best available player, it's almost too good to be true. As long as Byram goes in the top 6, I'll be thrilled with who ever falls to us.

I had a feeling this might've been the case. It's why I wasn't too upset about dropping two spots. They all sound so close in talent, but with different specialties.

Cozens intrigues me as well. Even though it shouldn't matter, I find it cool he's from the Yukon. Maybe cuz he wouldn't view going to Buffalo as some sort of climate and cultural punishment.

Cozens and Zegras both played a ton of wing so their versatility could appeal to teams picking in the top 10. Obviously picking higher we would get our pick of the litter but its totally possible the guy we select at 7th we would have selected at 5 or even 3. I think Byram is a top 5 lock. Podkolzin is the real wild card in all of this. He could go 3rd overall, or fall out of the top 10 completely and I wouldn't be surprised with either scenario.

I have been looking at mock drafts, draft rankings, and youtube clips for months and your guess is as good as mine on who will be available/who we would take at 7. Picks 3-9 are an absolute blender for the most part.

Alfie Turcotte is his father. I don't know who he is personally but I know he played in the league as well. Im too young haha.

In fairness, he was a very forgettable player. Cozens, Turcotte, or Dach are my 3 targets, in that order.

I share the same thought process as well. I think Zegras is fantastic but doesn't fit a Sabres team need as much as the aforementioned. I think I would rank them Turcotte, Cozens, Dach but if we get either of them I'll be happy. Having a 1-2-3 punch down the middle of Eichel-Mittelstadt-Cozens/Turcotte/Dach we will possibly have the best centre depth this franchise as ever had.
