Top 2 lines and D fell flat last night.

Also Jake Gardiner isn't back next year. Someone inform him that the goal is to get the puck into the net, not into the opponent's shin pads. I cringe every time he has it at the point. Also literally standing on the PP last night.

Him and Dermott at obviously not 100%.

But yeah, time for him to go. When he's not an offensive/dynamic threat, the rest of his game looks glaringly worse.

Nah I'm fine, really. I just don't comprehend how you can call yourself a fan and just be so filled with self-doubt and loathing all the time. If it's that painful for you, why bother? Maybe take up knitting?

Long time reader. Used to post more often but changed jobs and don’t have as much down time (dog (frank)ing time). My thoughts for what they are worth...

Earlier in the season someone said “those guys get paid too” after a loss. It’s spot on here. Series is pretty tight. Could easily be 3-1 for either team and ultimately one bounce this way or that way is gonna decide a very good. Tight series.

Freddy needed to make a couple saves last night and it’s 3-1 leafs. Unfortunately the bruins capitalized and we did not. Leafs had plenty of chances but did not execute. Hopefully they find more ways to be creative on the pp (Matthews scoring from down low last night as an example)

I’m not sure how it’s possible to come out flat in such a massive game but it happens waaaay too often with this team. Not sure if that’s coaching or leadership/locker room issue.

As far as the Willy situation goes... he seems to have his legs back and is skating much better. But either is gripping stick too tight or hasn’t shaken off the rust. Or maybe because he’s selfish he got paid and is content being mediocre. How he gets defended on here so often blows my mind. Has all the skill in the world. Refuses to put forth a solid effort on a consistent basis or go in the dirty areas/adjust to playoff hockey. He scored 7 goals this season. He is not playing to the level he needs to be at to eat up that much salary. Is it possible next year is a new year and he lights it up with Matthews? Absolutely. But this season is an absolute disaster for him unless he goes on a serious run for the rest of the playoffs.

I’ll hang up and listen

How long have you been a Leafs fan?

I find the fans that don't have self-doubt are the hardest to reason with (Ropes/Sants/Burns etc.).

Only my opinion.

Pretty sure Kap has more goals/60 every year he's played (5v5). Not sure what all the laughs are for, Willie's not a goal scorer more of a set up man. Zach Hyman scores more then Willie.

bang on on Nylander.
we all hope he'll be much better.
personally I doubt he's that good of a player.
last season when suggestion Matthews would be better off with a Tkachuk type of player on his wing, people were lauging about that suggestion.
Willie is afraid to get hit and is a lazy player - I don't think there is any remedy for that.

They've almost done it twice now, with far lesser teams. Why not?

Like I said: I feel better now than I did going into the game. Those positioning mistakes on the PK are easily corrected; Brown's stupid penalty, fluky puck off of Zaitsev's hand that paralyzes him... we crushed them in shot attempts, possession, and 5v5 play in general.

In previous years, we were lucky enough to survive to Game 7. This year, we've been the better team in 3 of 4 and Game 2 was an abomination of terrible officiating that'll likely not be allowed to happen again.

and then again off his skate right back to Marchand

At least Kapanen hits the net...Nylander always misses the net.

I seen him hit the goalie last night....we needed that to go in. Damn.

and then again off his skate right back to Marchand

That bounce off the skate threw marner odd on the back check. He paused and it went right back on marchands stick for the cross ice pass.

Bad luck / bad bounce. As I said earlier. Both teams playing pretty well. Couple bounces to decide outcome of the game.

Gotta be a little bit better tomorrow. I’m sure Boston will be rocking. Gotta come out hard and settle the crowd down. I was at game 3. Arena was electric (as electric as can be for half suits/ half fans). Last night seemed pretty quiet in the building. Bruins came out and scored early to settle the building down

at start of 2nd period, 70% of the bottom seats (nearest to the rink) were unoccupied. that was really sad to see.

Ok bubbles.
I have no loathing towards this team.
So let me explain something to you.
You can still be a fan and have doubts about them closing out the series in a game 7 in boston. Crazy i know.
Its ok to be a fan and have some doubts. I predicted leafs in 6 but boston in 7.
Sorry hon, im not a koolaid drinking blue goggles wearing blind to the facts or reality type of fan.
I love the leafs but as of now i dont fully trust this team to get it done during a game 7 or when it really counts. I hope they prove me wrong, but they havent yet. However, when they do, ill feel more at ease with them.

Leafs have played well. I'll take a tied series after 4.
Special teams were the issue but I thought Leafs 5 on 5 were better.

All the bounces seem to go the Bruins way for the 1st 1/2 - 3/4 of the game.

Yep, tough to score 5v5, especially the way they collapse.

We need to stay out of the box and the series should be ours.

It does feel that way. Even with the penalties, and I know I’m a bit biased but it seems like the refs NEVER miss a chance to call a penalty on the leafs. Like the Matthews call last night. Didn’t call it until he hunched over like he was shot. Probably 3-5 second delay on that call.

But when the leafs do that it’s “shut up and stop crying to the refs and play hockey” a la kadri being punched in the face and tackled by debrusk
