It really is. - Marwood
patience is a virtue, and i understand why people are wearing thin on patience on this franchise. Its taken forever to become relevant again, and its debatable to some if we are even there yet. But trading away kids that are finally being identified as the new core, to fix other glaring holes in the line up, and then thinking that overpaying in free agency will fix other holes, is just ridiculous. |

we complained long and hard for years and years about commitment to rebuilding properly, and now that we have started shedding some fat, slowly acquiring some late round picks (picks are picks), not dealing any away (shocking), and slowly establishing a decent core of kids, we want to ship them out to address other holes in the roster and again sign prolific UFA's to $ and term.
Mind boggling. - Codes1087

The playoff are on as well and some get more impatient seeing other teams in the fight and hearing about our players hanging out in Vegas. |

I certainly hope no one on our roster under the age of 25 apart from maybe Goldy are being shopped at all. I doubt they are based on what JB has said the last year or so about standing pat with the current group. I do think they might hand out another medium-large contract in July though. |

It's a pretty pivotal moment for JB this summer. He could set this franchise back a ton by making a stupid free agent signing imo. I'd rather him disconnect his phone completely this free agency than sign a medium/large ufa contract this summer |

Apparently TB fans hate Seragchev, mainly because they think he's a terrible defender. - Nucker101
At least he lost in the first round instead of not even playing in 1 NHL game yet... |

For me it's all about term. I can see him going for one because his job depends on the team making the playoffs next year. If he does sign one, I hope it's no longer than 3 years. Like you said, another LE could set us back. |

This I don’t get. Why would you think that he will lose his job if they don’t make the playoffs? The team isn’t that good, it likely won’t be that good next year. The most probable outcome is missing the playoffs. If they have a good draft, shed some salary and take a step forward you don’t think FA will appreciate the work being done? |

Honestly, Canucks could finish dead last and move to 4th in the lottery and as long as Vancouver gets Uber, Bennings job would be safe. |

Didn't mean to pee on the campfire but the draft is late June. That's what 60+ days of player discussion about who goes 10. From the mixed bag I've read, after the top 3 or 4, the first round will be a crapshoot.
Whatever happens at the draft, that's when the conversation in here will be legit... and hugely amusing. - bloatedmosquito
Can we just get all of them, problem solved |

I would hope he does, but management said themselves they think we're close to making the playoffs.
I think ownership wants playoffs for the 50th and they think we took enough of a step this year that adding a piece or 2 and getting some luck in the injury department will get us in. |

You should be careful with that kind of talk, you'll get a lot of attention for suggesting we trade for a Dman with defensive deficiencies. |

I don’t disagree with this (I mean, I think it’s ludicrous but I agree they think it), but I still don’t think it’s a win or you’re out situation. If that’s the situation, I wouldn’t trust a GM to do what’s right long term, and I’d fire him right now. |

There was a brief moment during the season that I thought JB might load up on picks this draft. But someone reminded me I shouldn't expect nice things.
Sure would have been nice to have a few more 1st round picks like Ducks, Kings, Avalanche, NYR, Sabres, etc. You know, like other rebuilding teams. |

I guess we'll see. This is the last year of JBs contract right? If he gets extended during the summer perhaps we'll have our answer. |
