Agreed
Get a one goal lead and play prevent defense. I’ve had my fill of that. |

I didn't say you did, I said he did nothing with 2 good teams and there are reasons he still not coaching. I didn't say you mentioned him to be a candidate for hire. Then I said pass. |

Or one is one of the GMs for Team Canada and the other is one of the coaches and they are still building their team hoping TB loss so Stamkos would be available. |

I wasn't absolving him of anything...the defense and defensive schemes while he was here amounted to horsepoop and when he went to the island, "exorcised personal demons" and landed in a structured system with the reigning Stanley cup winning head coach...just pointing that stuff out - Michael Pachla
I get that, but Lehner, in his public comments since leaving, has largely framed himself as a victim of circumstance in a bad situation. I haven't seen him own his role on those poopty teams. I know our defense sucked, and having trotz coach his D certainly helps, but he wasn't a passive observer of a poopty team. He made the team worse with his behavior. Again, I'm happy for him as a person, but he has a large role in this |

I'm happy for Lehner, but his addiction does not absolve him of his role in the debacle. I was a huge supporter of his through his first two years. I could see the potential, but his behavior played a major role in the under-performing Sabres. The fact that throughout this season he kept making comments about the "negative environment" really pissed me off. With all due respect, he was hungover every game (by his own admission), and generally sucked ass his last year here.
And Tim Murray absolutely deserves blame for acquiring him for 1st round pick. Surely he knew him from Ottawa, and Brian wouldn't have pulled the wool over his eyes as to his behavior. He hitched his wagon to that guy.
Robin should have gotten his poop together. He didn't until it was too late for us. So good for him, but also, his unprofessional behavior cost us quite a bit.
So I'm not ready to make an excuse for the guy. He's good at doing that for himself - jcragcrumple
I would go a lot further with Lehner. Let's just say that anyone who has a drinking problem, beats it, then blames the franchise they let down for their transgressions can get (frank)ed as far as I'm concerned.
I won't say that I hope he dies or relapses, or something crazy, but I do hope he gets stuck in traffic on the way to his next playoff game.........with explosive diarrhea and violently sneezes. |

Everything I read said the team bent over backwards to help him...even after he wasn't under contract anymore. |

Why bother firing Housley just to to bring in a rookie coach or an AHL coach? makes no sense, just keep Housley. I've read about those types of coaches being available but why bother with them? just let Houlsey continue to try and right the ship. |

you asked why I keep mentioning him...he was mentioned in the context of available veteran head coaches, along with Todd Richards and michel therien...
I also said i'd rather have ruff than any of those |

But if the ship never leaves the harbor, bring in a new captain. I think the biggest problem is that the fish on the ship stinks and who would want to work on that deck. |

Your assumption is that rookie coaches suck, which seems to be based on Housley sucking.
Just because Housley sucked, doesn't mean Gronborg would. |

You don't want a veteran coach, you don't want an AHL coach, you don't want a new coach. Who coaches in your perfect scenario? |
