Guess it all depends if Benn as realistic salary expectations ! And perhaps also if somebody will be stupid enough to offer him like 3M per

the odd man out seems to be Reilly imo, especially if they trade for a top LD

Oh I agree, no doubt.... just a matter of if they'll trade him as a RFA or just not qualify him, but I'd be surprised if he was even at the Habs camp

well you won't get anything for Reilly and Hudon. throw them in to give them a chance eslewhere. and yes add Drouin to land a good LD. then replace Drouin in the lineup by Poehling.

I was against the idea of trading for Drouin even before the trade happened and 2 years later, my opinion of him hasn't changed one bit and I would be more than willing to send him off to acquire a D, but it isn't happening, Bergevin is not gonna flip him this quick... even if it was a real good trade for him, he would still hear tons of backlash, from media and fans. He just bought himself some time with a few good moves that paid off, he's not gonna gamble and trade the French "superstar"

No, no and no

How about trading the 15th overall for a young D?

I wouldn't trade any of those guys, they actually show up most games ... but Drouin could go and I wouldn't care.

same here.
you don't fix a mistake by making another one. recognize you made one, and move on.

I wish he would... but I think his comments at seasons end pretty much cemented the fact that Drouin will definitely be back.... he waited so long before he traded Galchenyuk and his name was Galchenyuk!

if he trades him 2 years from now, MB will still look like the guy who made a mistake acquiring Drouin. why wait?
unless you really believe he can turn it around? that would be another mistake.

at the end of the day, nothing againts Drouin, but Habs need a LD and they don't have that many options to get one especially if they want to keep their picks and prospects.

There is something against Drouin, quite a few things actually... and as far as him turning it around, I think he is what he is, a player that will put up decent numbers earlier on in the season but go through dry spells when the play picks up later on in the season

Nope ... Bergy still thinks Drouin can become a consistent player, he said so in the post-season news conference.

As others have mentioned, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of trading one of our picks to acquire a good left D.
