This opinion is valid. Most TV shows suck in general anyway.

The "Chernobyl" show HBO is previewing looks really good.

Well I don't consider HBO "TV" it is a premium service.

But yes, I am interested. I actually want to visit Chernobyl but my wife doesn't want to go. I'll just go alone and hang out with the mutants.

Someone posted a video on reddit recently where they (or someone) went to Chernobyl and walked around the grounds. Apparently there's still some people that live in the woods that aren't supposed to be there. He finds some guy and the guy invites him into his house where he lives with his mom. It's so bizarre.

I find it really interesting. Just reading about what transpired there, it's insane. Seeing what is still there would be really cool (to me).

the book i referenced above mentions these folks. in the months/years after the disaster they allowed people back to retrieve belongings and such.

in typical soviet fashion it was poorly supervised and some people jsut stayed. moving the outskirts of the zone since work was still being done around the plant. they've been there ever since

Yeah I'm on board with that. The entire ghost town at Pripyat is so creepy and interesting.

I watched the whole thing, so crazy. I didn't fully realize that it made it into Belarus. I find a lot of these events fascinating. I've read about the Bhopal Disaster too. 500k people exposed to MIC gas. Just absolutely nuts. What I also find hard to fully grasp at times is that we are not long removed from some of these tragedies. When you see the images and read about what happened it seems so long ago, but in reality those two disasters are just over 30 years ago.
