Lines change regularly, under all coaches. You take them way too seriously. Upping Sheary's trade value from less than a 4th to what? a 3rd? You want to play inferior lines for that? Take a deep breath. They need to win games next year and they have a seriously flawed group of LW's.

B) There is a huge difference between what Skinner produced with Jack and what Sheary did. It’s not a legitimate comparison.

If Skinner doesn't re-sign, Olofsson and Sheary will both get their shot with Eichel. No one is arguing against that point. But no coach is going to decide before day 1 to play Sheary with Eichel because he wants a 3rd at the TDL instead of a 4th. It's just not a realistic approach.

the GM & the coach should be on the same page working together
We talk about how certain get “showcased” near the deadline with more icetime or in a better role
Why can’t we do that to start the season?
I don’t see why we arbitrarily need to wait till a certain point to do something like that

Now if we keep Skinner & sign/trade for another winger or 2...
that’s a different story

But if it’s gonna be another year where we struggle just to not pick in the Top10,
then we should be trying to maximize assets for the future

The GM is working to save his job. A 3rd instead of a 4th at the TDL, with another top-10 pick gets him fired.

There's no chance that the next coach walks into the season and says "it's a lost year. It makes sense to give Sheary the job to maximize his value"

It's fine if that's what you want, but that's not something that's gonna happen. He'll get his shot at some point. If it works, great, if not, they'll try something else

I did. And after game 1 sheary was moved up and the team went 3-1 before he cooled off and was shuffled off that line He scored 23 goals on Sids wing.
