Why would anyone in there right mind want Joe Thornton, really people. That makes no sense what so ever, none not even close. No to Pavelski also. Kevin Hayes for example on a 3 year deal would be fine (example). In the state this team is in, why in the hell would anyone want Joe Thornton.

Thornton is 40 or will be 41 and will won't leave San Jose, we don't need a 40 yr old stop gap. Come on now.
- SABRES 89

No way Thornton leaves San Jose to come here. And I'm not a "no one wants to come here" guy.

But that ain't happening

No way in hell anyone should want Thornton on this team, he plays on the 3rd line fora reason, BECAUSE HE'S DONE. Come on people

Hayes looks like a third liner to me

Sheary is fine for what we paid to get him but I have no desire to keep him beyond his current contract.

The Sabres should be able to do better than CS after next season, or at least someone who can consistently fall down at a cheaper price.

He will never leave San Jose to come here. I agree though that apart from a leadership standpoint he would be useless.

51 points.

Almost 71% of those came on even strength.

But it’s correct he won’t leave SJ

It's hard not to point out that Sheary's soft production came with 70% ozone starts. You can't play up and won the lineup, as some suggested, if you can't play defense.

LW is a mess on this team. Lot of guys pushing for jobs, but a very poor composition.

I get that. However I’ve never heard a team complain of having too many Centres. I’ve seen a team complain about not having enough though.

I will be shocked if Caufield is there when we pick I could see him going 4 or 5 now

He’s not leaving but to say this team couldn’t use a 50 point guy as a one year stop gap along with helping mentor Mitts(Thornton did have a horrendous rookie yr like Mitts) is crazy IMO.

So Gus isn't good enough in that role?

He could mentor that whole team. And they certainly could use some solid veteran guidance.

"Lion-eater" is enough for the rest of the team. Damn, if this team doesn't need a lot of work.

It’s not ideal with him being 40 but for one year?

I’d be ok with it.

It's really hard to take USNDT stats seriously. I'd be happy if he went top 6, so we didn't have the temptation.

Yes but SJS’ third line is almost as good as our first and he’ll be yet another year older.

As previously stated he’s not leaving.

I wouldn’t hate the idea though.
