Be our leading scorer, who was the last 90 point islander? Palfy is my guess. Also theres talk of Malkin to rangers to help with all their young Russian players so why not kessel to isles? - Upstate_isles
I don't believe that Malkin talk for a second. A day or two after that was mentioned there was another Athletic article quoting Rutherford saying that the only two players that were legitimately untouchable were Sid and Malkin. I have a hard time believing the Rangers are going to take on an injury prone 33yo with a long-term $9.5M when they're about to have wave after wave of young talent coming to the big club. |

Ristolainen blows cack. - Cptmjl
So did virtually every Isles d-man before some structure was put in place
Risto has a good skill set and is still young...it wouldn't surprise me if a team pays a good price betting that he'd be a lot better in a different environment, and it wouldn't surprise me if that team was right. |

The Rags will go hard after Panarin. I agree with you Chiefs Malkin will not be traded and if he was the Rags really don’t fit. |

Isles, Rangers, Panthers, and Blackhawks (in no particular order) are all going to be chasing after him hard. I'm sure there will be one or two dark-horse teams that come out of nowhere, too. |

An article from the Athletic on the Penguins
During this meeting, Sullivan showed a video of Chad Ruhwedel with the puck in the corner behind goaltender Matt Murray. There were no Penguins forwards visible in the screenshot, prompting Sullivan to say, “What is Chad supposed to do in this situation?”
Pittsburgh’s second line was on the ice during this particular sequence. Thus, Sullivan’s question was directed toward that unit. Evgeni Malkin offered his opinion:
“He’s in the NHL,” Malkin said in front of the entire team. “He can skate it out.”
Therein lay so may problems.

I think the Rags have the inside track then the Cats. Now if the Islanders make a long run in these POs and Belmont is truly in motion, then The Islanders can be the front runner.
That said I feel it will be hard to beat the Rags out on him.

Yeah I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised to see him sign in NY. I know there's been plenty of reports about how he loved playing for Q and, obviously, the no state income tax thing...but I just have such a hard time seeing him go there. Maybe I end up eating my words, but their goaltending is a mess with no real foreseeable fix on the horizon and their defense isn't particularly great either. I don't see them being all that close to being a real contender. |

That’s why I says Fl is #2. Though to beat the great weather and no income tax. That said I just see him and his better half wanting the N.Y. scene. |

Yeah but you never know what his actual criteria is. Maybe he's already got his Cup and he just wants to cash in on the biggest payday out there or maybe he is super competitive and really wants to go for another. Who knows, the Rangers may not be interested in spending $11M on a guy when they're still trying to rebuild.
He may see the Isles as a little further along and having a better chance to sustain being competitive. Hank is on the decline and there's no guarantee that a) Georgiev can repeat this year success or b) Shesterkin is going to be the real deal. I suppose, in the interest of objectivity, there's no guarantee that Lehner can repeat this year's success either...but I think he's a safer bet.
I'd still like to see the Isles go and get Gusev from Vegas if he isn't planning on running back to Russia after the playoffs. There's no way they can re-sign him and W. Karlsson this offseason. |

Going to be a very interesting off season for sure.
Gusev is interesting however, haven’t we had enough of the Russians wanting to be in Russia?

Well if he wants to be in Russia then we wouldn't trade for his RFA rights. But if he wants to play in NA then I'd love to give him a deal. Lead the KHL in points this year and was 13pts ahead of the next guy. Finished 2nd the year prior, to Kovalchuk, by one point. Fourth two years ago. He's a player.
I think I'd rather have Gusev+Duchene than Panarin alone. |

Yeah it’s possible Trotz can fix him but I wouldn’t by any means pay a steep price for him based on that. If that’s the case let someone else take that risk. |

Meh, it's not Sather's Rangers anymore. Gorton isn't just throwing big money at the big free agents and trading away all their picks/prospects at the deadline. They're finally trying to build the right way. I don't love everything they've done but they've done well and they're going to add a top prospect like Kakko into the fold and they'll have at least one other first rounder with the potential to have three in total, plus either two or three 2nd rounders. |

The one guy turned out to be a ref and talked to me about it trash panda sucks. For the record there isnt a casebook for situations in the NHL book it's not defined in it so I went based on our calls. The guy I work with is a ahl linesman he said that's the call but could be different |

I do not see how any major FA can pick the Rangers over the Isles at this point with Lou and Barry and this current run. If winning is a priority it has to be the Isles. |
