I do not see how any major FA can pick the Rangers over the Isles at this point with Lou and Barry and this current run. If winning is a priority it has to be the Isles. - ses111
NYC is a desirable place to live for super-rich young guys and the Rangers rebuild won't take as long. It's not far-fetched at all that UFA's will still pick the Rangers over the Isles. |

It's a dumb move. Isles are already on the up and you cannot match Lou and Barry. What has Gorton done to prove he can build a team? This is not the old Islanders with no ownership and no direction. You can still sign with the Isles and be a super-rich young guy and have fun. |

I'm not gonna pump the Rangers tires, but Gorton has done a very good job of restocking the cupboard in short order. He's shed a lot of players and added a ton of picks and prospects. I don't like all his picks and don't think some of the prospects that he got in return were all that great, but he's done some real good work so far. He hasn't been afraid to trade away fan-favorites and that's a good thing.
Chytil, Kravstov, and Miller are all really solid young players/prospects. They're going to add a stud in Kakko into the mix in two months. There's a lot of good depth there, too.
Like it or not they're a bigger UFA destination. Lou and Barry legitimize the Islanders ten-fold, compared to what they used to be, but the Islanders probably won't ever leapfrog the Rangers in that department unless/until the Rangers are a total tire-fire. |

This is not even about ripping on the Rangers but there is still a question about Gorton and Quinn. Lou and Barry are proven winners already. It's seems dumb to me to sign with the Rangers just because MSG. I do think NYC has a real issue with taxes and Florida is going to be a problem. I have no issue if Panarin picks Florida but if he picks the Rangers over the Isles that is just beyond dumb to me after everything going on with the Isles and the Isles having a center like Barzal. |

Will Lee, Nelson, Eberle Lehner, etc still be on the team? You would think so but that would help if the UFAs on the Islanders sign before July 1st imho. |

I think Lee, Nelson, and Lehner will be back. I just think in terms of sports, winning should be the #1 priority. The money will be good regardless. I'm sure Barzal is not suffering and not sitting home alone being on the Isles. in 2019 night now and most likely the next few years, the Isles have a better chance to win than the Rangers. Years ago it would not be a discussion and maybe in the future the Rangers are the better on ice team? |

Not disagreeing but when is the last time you've seen a Ranger in a commercial outside of an MSG promo? Maybe a hairspray commercial for Hank? |

Just my guess, but I think it goes deeper than what each team did this season. The Rangers have had a reputation...for a long time, and even when the team on the ice isn't good...of being a first-class organization. Former players have said that in interviews, and even players who have had a rough time there have gone out of their way to say how well they were treated and how highly they still think of the organization.
The Isles, well, don't have that long-term reputation. There are still people around who tell stories about when they used to fly commercial. Their past ownership issues are well known. They're only a year removed from "the backup goalie GM" and all the jokes that went along with that. And they still play home games in two arenas, with only a promise of a third, permanent home in the future.
I'm not saying it's right that the Isles are saddled with all that past stuff when things are clearly turning around, but it might be a stigma that's still there. If you want to play in NY, the Rangers are probably your first choice. |

Well these hockey players need to educate themselves on the Isles and stop thinking they are going to make commercials like Broadway Joe. |

I think it'll just take more than a season for a different reputation to take hold...for both teams. If the Rangers crap out for several years in a row, players will probably stop seeing them as an automatic yes for places they want to go. And for the Isles, getting a shovel in the ground at Belmont will be a good step, along with more than one year of getting to the playoffs and turning some heads. |

I actually think this was Ladd's best year with the team yet.
That's because he barely played |
