Sadly I think if he comes over they are gonna let Lehner walk and have Greiss split with Sorokin for a year and then it's Sorokin's job - Vukota
Lehner 3 years let's he and sorokin split time. Griess stock is up if they can trade him |

I can’t see them letting Lehner walk unless him and his agent get crazy. I’m also assuming the guy wants to stay. - Cptmjl
I'm sure he wants to stay but to get Sorokin to come over I'm sure they are gonna let him know he will be the guy when he does. Also another team who needs a goalie might offer Lehner a deal telling him he will be the #1 no questions asked then what? I don't think its a lock he is back. |

You think Sorokin is coming over here to split time for 3 years? He can stay in Russia and make more money and continue to be a rock star |

Learns the game and splits year one then one of them takes the reins. You cant give up your playoff starter for a Russian kid who as good as he is hasn't faced this level of competition yet |

All indications are that Lehner likes being an Islander. He's only 27 years old. If he takes the Isles deep into the playoffs, do you really want to let him go? Not all Russian players make a successful transition to the NHL. |

I’m not taking a chance on an KHL star albeit a damn good one as a starting goaltender for the long term. That’s incredibly risky. Have a feeling Lameriello agrees with that sentiment. |

Not only that but I doubt sorokin comes over. If he did I would still sign lehner cause who knows how he is going to play here. I don’t trust Russians |

Of course in a perfect world Lehner would want to stay even if Sorokin wanted to come over but Lehner will have options after this season and I'm sorry but I'll take the 22 yr old stud prospect if I had to choose. Griess had pretty much exactly the same numbers as Lehner. I love Lehner and I would love him to resign and share with Sorokin for a year or so and then Sorokin take over but I don't think that's a realistic option and if I had to choose one for the long haul its Sorokin and its not even close. |

Even if the current backup pretty much had the same exact numbers? Again I'm not knocking Lehner in the least. Love the story, love the player but I can't let one good season distract me from the long term plan and that long term plan is the 22 stud prospect everybody has been waiting for the last couple of years. Either way its a debate for another day. Go Isles and lets go Bruins tonight!! |

Yeah. I would argue that Lehner has been steadier and more consistent even though the numbers have been similar. I get what you’re saying but I still can’t see it happening. |

True only way I see it happening is if Lehner gets to July 1st and somebody throws a big offer at him , which I don't think will happen after 1 good year, in a system that makes it pretty comfortable for goalies |

Be careful what you wish for cause you never know. I mean ask the penguin blogger he begged for the islanders. He got his wish and they got destroyed. Sorokin can back fire big time. I take the safe bet and see on sorokin |

That’s like saying don’t trade Pelech because you don’t know what you have in Dobson lol. C’mon a couple of months ago this isn’t even a discussion. Can’t let emotions get in the way of what best for the team long term. If another team had Sorokin and wanted to trade him to the Isles straight up for Lehner you wouldn’t do it? |

That's why I said 3 years for him while sorokin gets acclimated. Lehner split this year no reason to think he won't do it again with the younger kid |

What if another team offers him 5 years do you match and say goodbye to Sorokin? |

Right now your right about emotions. It’s just that you don’t what your getting in sorokin. He never played a nhl game yet. Lehner knows the team and knows the system. Again I still have this feeling he is not even going to come here |

I don't think Greiss would be that hard to trade and, on the off-chance nobody wants him, a buyout would be fine. I don't think they let Lehner walk either way. |

How am I about emotions? If that was true I would be all about Lehner because I facking love the guy. Pelech has been great but I would kick his arse out the door if it can down to him and Dobson and Dobson has never played a minute in the nhl |

I think they offer 3 or 4 years move griess and bring on sorokin or at least that's my hope |
