I don't think Greiss would be that hard to trade and, on the off-chance nobody wants him, a buyout would be fine. I don't think they let Lehner walk either way.
- eichiefs9

What if Lehner doesn’t want to split with Sorokin and can go to Florida and be the man? What would you do?

How am I about emotions? If that was true I would be all about Lehner because I facking love the guy. Pelech has been great but I would kick his arse out the door if it can down to him and Dobson and Dobson has never played a minute in the nhl

So do I but not at the expense of Sorokin 😂
- Vukota

Listen for how much I bust everyone’s chops about drooling over this kid I hope he comes over here. With that said I’m not sacrificing something that’s working really well right now and looks like an excellent thing for uncertainty. Just my opinion.

That clown Lambert on Yahoo just wrote another article. He still wont give the Islanders any credit.
- chazpet

Guys like him and Tanner will never admit they are wrong so why even bother waiting?

Signing Lehner and taking on Sorokin, should he want to/be able to come over, would be the best course of action by a country mile. Greiss was a great soldier but there's no reason not to give Sorokin a shot. He'd be on a 1 year ELC, which would be kinda good and bad

That’s fair and it would be a gamble but to me one worth taking IMO

I'm not going to assume that a guy who just split time all season, and had great success doing so, is going to do an about-face all the sudden and start demanding 65 starts a year.

Sorokin is too good not to get a look.

Sure he could if another team offered him more money and playing time. Who wouldn’t?

That’s like saying don’t trade Pelech because you don’t know what you have in Dobson lol. C’mon a couple of months ago this isn’t even a discussion. Can’t let emotions get in the way of what best for the team long term. If another team had Sorokin and wanted to trade him to the Isles straight up for Lehner you wouldn’t do it?

This is what kasper was referring to with the emotions thing "right now you're right about the emotions thing"

I would move heaven and earth to get Sorokin over here. He has legitimate superstar goaltender potential. He's been a top goaltender in the KHL for a few years and a top goaltender in international competition. Not doing everything in their power to get him here and have him work with Korn/Greco on NA ice would be doing an absolutely abhorrent disservice to the organization.

He's a 23 year old star goaltender. If he pans out the Isles could get 10+ years out of him.

He can't be myopic enough to think that there's not at least a possibility that he's going to get absolutely shelled playing for a different team with a different system.

The Panthers have $8M tied up in two bad goalies that nobody is trading for. I have a hard time believing that they'd be willing to commit something like $6M+ to Lehner and have over $14M tied up in some sort of demented three-goalie system.

Also lehner loves it here. After all his issues and problems he had and the islanders helped him through that, I don’t think he wants to go anywhere else no matter what.
