So many Oilers fans. 13 seasons into their rebuild and the highlight of their season is watching a rival lose in the playoffs. How embarrassing. - Antilles

The Oilers made the playoffs once in the last three years. The Flames made the playoffs twice. The Oilers have more wins in that one appearance than the flames have in two appearances. - hunter3333
Man that's a pretty nice way of saying "Once in thirteen years".
I'm not arguing the fact that the Flames need some work, I'm arguing that the core took a huge step forward this year and isn't the problem. The Flames don't need to blow it up. |

That I can agree with. Tweaks definitely need to be made but nothing too crazy and certainly not overpaying another UFA. |

They only have about 8 million plus need to give Tkachuk and Bennett a raise and resign another guy or 2 and find another goalie. FA is not much of an option for the Flames unless they can shed a bigger salary in the offseason. |

I see trades being far more likely then free agency signings....maybe they resume talks about Zucker.....seems like one of their big names gets traded

Honestly given that the Zucker trade was agreed upon but the paperwork didn't get done in time at the deadline I'd be pretty surprised if they don't at least talk about that deal again. It would be a goid move for the Flames too.
The trade market definitely seems both more likely and more feasible. At least in trades Calgary csn move contracts out. I don't know who exactly the Flames would look at on the trade market, but I guess we'll wait and see. I hope Treliving has learned his lesson and decides to leave the UFA market mostly untouched. Maybe pick up a cheap depth player but otherwise just don't. |

They actually have about 11.5 million and assuming the caps going to go up a few million, they'll have around 15million. They have to sign 4 forwards including Tkachuk and Bennett and two goalies. That's too tight but they may buyout Stone, and trade one or both of Frolik and Brodie. They'll be ok but they have some work to do. |

Don't matter. Canes won twice as many playoff games as Calgary.
Guess we won the trade. |

Flames wen't out and got their depth scoring but all were a no show in the PO's. Was said before that Johnny Monny and that goof Tckachuk would most likely be a no-show in the PO's and McKinnon made then all look like Junior B'ers. Is what it is. Flames have work to do.

Canes will be out soon and you can do your stupid little post-game celly's when the Canes salute the 4000 fans that stay to watch the season-ending celly's. |

I took my numbers from sportac. It says about 13mill available then there is about 5 tied up in minor league players and buried contracts. Which is how I came up with about 8 million free. And that's assuming the cap goes up to 83. So no, they do not have very much room. Tkachuk is gonna either get paid large and take up almost all of that, or get a bridge and demand even more in a few years time. Too many guys who want 5+ and the well has dried. |
