It was goalie interference, plain and simple. I dont care what previous goalie interference calls were missed, it doesnt change this one.
But
The leafs have been screwed on these inconsistent calls for a while, so its nice to to see a bad call finally go their way.
So it was goalie interference, the league facked up, but i dont give a fack. Cause they also facked up the offside call. The league is a bunch of facking fack ups.
Nice to see the leafs finally benefit from it.

At least there is an argument in that video the player was pushed. Clearly not the case here.

And if you want to make the argument that whatever the worst goalie interference a team has gotten away with in the past has set a standard that all subsequent rulings should follow, teams might as well just run with 6 skaters. Pointing out previous bad calls isn't a justification for them continuing to make bad calls. This goal shouldn't have counted, and every single fan in Toronto would be screaming that if it had gone the other way.

For the offside challenge on the goal, can I assume it was the refs who decided to review it, not Babs?

Because there was no penalty.

- Atomic Wedgie

Any review under 1 minute or in ot is an automatic booth review at least for goals I assume offsides too. They probably gave that to Boston after the goalie interference call so the officiating crew made it out alive

Will Columbus lose momentum with the layoff? Or be prepared?

They need to take out the human factor. Have A I or a computer make the call based on past precedent and the rules.

Cyberdyne Systems is working on this - it works on their Skynet platform.

Yep Carlo Coliacovos tweet showed the image pretty clearly that it was offside. why they don't have camera over the blue line looking down I'll never understand
- Archaic

The whole thing could be sorted out with laser sensors, but it would put mediocre old white men out of a job, so we can't have that.

They already sealed their fate once they called the too many men penalty.

Also, if the Canes can complete the comeback and out the Caps then you (frank)ers will have top seed through the rest of the playoffs

I know. But if all of the top 4 from the regular season are eliminated in the first round that would sure be something

Oh yeah it's been great!

It's actually possible (though obviously unlikely) that Leafs and Isles are the only two of the top 10 left for the second round. That's what I'm hoping for - full chaos!!

Indifferent third party here: it was clearly goaltender interference. Contact to the goalie's head, even if not forceful, is going to interfere. Most rational people (non-Leaf fans) would agree that being able to see is important to goaltending. There isn't one single rational (again, looking at you Leafs fans) argument as to why that would not be interference.

Refereeing and league is a joke. But that's just part for the course. Just one of many reasons this horribly run league will always remain outside the mainstream consciousness of the US.

In any case, what is really frustrating about this otherwise great series is how wimpy game 5 was played. If no one is going to try to score at least hit something! Entertain us non-partisans! Kadri deserved the suspension but it would be so much better to see him still out there stirring sht up.

Cool the Bruins goal was offside. Tie goes to the call on the ice.

If it was an adult I would get it but it's a little kid and it was 2 1 when the picture was taken so hes probably upset the team is losing. Jesus if it was your kid crying and people did that poop you'd all be outraged. Have a little perspective guys

I mean, I think most people would have been very surprised before the season if told where you would finish, but we now have several month's evidence that the Isles are the real deal. Helps having one of the (if not *the*) best systems coaches in the league to keep everyone in the right structure
