Spector posted a swap of James Neal for Okposo. - SABRES 89
Spector just reported what another writer suggested.
THE HOCKEY NEWS:
The James Neal experiment has to be over. Signed to a five-year, free agent contract paying him $5.75 AAV, the 30-year-old sniper was a complete washout in Calgary. He was slow from Day 1, couldn’t win a job on the top line and floundered to find his form all season. His healthy scratch during the deciding game Friday said it all. Can he or the team save face and try again in Year 2? Is Neal the type of player who will get himself a skating coach over the summer, trim some weight and commit himself to getting back that 20 percent edge that once made him a valuable top-6 winger? Maybe the best recourse is a bad-contract-for-bad-contract trade. Neal to Buffalo for Kyle Okposo (four years left at $6 million)? That might help both players and both teams.
Edit: It may be a possibility with Botts knowing Neal from his Pittsburgh days however, Okposo could be closer to LTIR which would benefit us sooner. |

That makes more sense, although I'm not entirely sold on Ehlers, but I'm sure I'm in the minority with that. - kingcong39

From the Jets thread:
"Myers is a 3-3.5 million bottom pair D. Nothing more. Who cares about the last 2 games now. Myers was on the ice for plenty of goals this year and if I don’t have to see another break out pass hit the winger in the knees I’ll be just fine."

I’ll take him back in a heartbeat at 3.5

Don't get to watch a lot of Jets games, however the commentary here is not reflected in his stats. Second on the team in +/-, most goals by a defenseman, all while getting 4th most TOI for dmen. Healthier, younger and cheaper than Big Buff. I would definitely take him for $3-3.5m. |

He'd have to want to come back here. I can't picture that. I could picture him going to the Leafs, though. |

I'm sure his wife probably wants him to retire. But this is from locker cleanout:
"This season was tough," Okposo said. "It was tough mentally for me. I was in a spot that I hadn’t really been in in my career. I felt like I wasn’t getting the opportunity that I was used to. In saying that, I needed to play better in order to get that opportunity back. I have to take a hard look in the mirror, like everybody does, and get back to the player that I want to be, especially offensively."
Doesn't sound like a man who views himself as done |

If their plan is to buy out Okposo next year anyway, there's no reason not to. They'd save $250k a year. Not much, but something |

Or wait for a compliance buyout with the next lockout. |

Ok I want Boldy at 7 case closed. Unless Turcotte miraculously falls into our lap. He is exactly what we need on the wing and he is just toying with everyone at the U18’s. - Pegullaville
I like Boldy's game, skill, speed, IQ, etc., but Only if the following are off board,
Dylan Cozens
Bowen Byram
Kirby Dach
Alex Turcotte
Trevor Zegras
I do like Boldy, but he seems farther away than this bunch

Maybe the league and the PA will decide to be adults and avoid a lockout.

Cozens has been invisible at the U18’s. I know it’s unfair to judge a prospect on 3 games in an international tournament but I just find it odd that this wouldn’t be the Dylan Cozens show. If anything Peyton Krebs is showing that he might be underrated as he is finally playing with talented players and it shows how good he is compared to the poop he played with in Kootenany. |

Sabres are likely not qualifying for the playoffs again next year.
Hopefully they improve to compete, but in the East Conf with Carolina and Florida ready to take steps up, I see them losing out.
So, I'd be fine playing Okposo on 4th line with like ERod and maybe CJ Smith where they can play against lesser competition and be productive....let's one more year of Okslopoke's contract done. Maybe rinse repeat the following year...that's 2...then buy him out when they are ready to compete for wins in a couple of playoff rounds. |

Draft Cozens at 7
Trade up to get Boldy.
Why choose? |
