Sure
But he could’ve been a bridge till Mitts became a legit 2C and Asplund developed into a good 3C

And many on here want to go after Duchene...
He’s the same age as ROR

Maybe we should’ve traded him for a younger version of himself,
but that’s not what happened

- jdfitz77

We had the younger version of ROR developing in our pipeline (Compher).

You know the saying.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda.

It's really a moot point now. The trade was made. Let's just hope he's got a legit plan in place to fill that 2C spot.

Would he ever look good in this uniform right now.

Like Pachs said, that one stung.

Back when we didn’t know if he’d be a 2nd liner... or a 4th liner...
Can’t get a player like ROR for crap
*unless you’re StL 😂😂😂

But sure...
Compher was the one guy at the time that i said i wished we’d kept

Of course

We are just in a pickle now
Do we overpay a UFA to get immediate 2C help?
Or continue to count on Mitts & hope he’s ready sooner than later?

Admittedly, it’s a tough choice
But I’m not too psyched about overpaying Duchene or Hayes, etc

Duchene's game is built around speed though. Botts wants to play an uptempo game. ROR doesn't fit that style today, nevermind 3 years from now. ROR is in the perfect situation for himself right now and its worked out for St. Louis. It will be interesting to see the direction the Blues go into the next couple of years though as they are one of the older teams in the NHL.

I absolutely agree on not overpaying.

We also can't ruin Mitts.

He's got to get a 2C, but he's got to be smart about it. Its not going to be easy.

I think StL could be on the decline
Depends how their young guys work out
Schwartz, Dunn, etc etc etc

Duchene is a good player...
But do u think he can be a ppg guy playing behind Jack?
I’m thinking he probably falls back to a 60ish point guy again

If u don’t wanna pay Skinner 9mil,
u can’t think it’s a good idea to pay Duchene that...
do you?

I didn’t realize how poor of a scoring season Eberle had

And didn’t he play on Barzal’s line?
Or was that not for the whole year?

I think I’d just role with Mitts at 2C
We aren’t competing for the Cup next year no matter what we do

Duchene has a better chance of being an effective player into his early-mid thirties then ROR. If we are going to spend $9M dollars on any position I'd rather it be the Centre position. I agree with you and Sbroads though that even giving Duchene that kind of term is risky business.

If he stays a ppg guy, then fine
But i don’t see that happening once he’s no longer the “1C”

Then he's got to upgrade the 3C spot big time, and get Mitts a winger or two worth a sh!t.

It can't be (frank)ing Sobotka again 🤮

Don’t even get me started on that bum
E Rod should be the 3C unless we can upgrade without overpaying

I think we'll be seeing a 4th line next year of Sobotka-Erod-Okposo

I think McNabb just threw one of the biggest hits in the NHL in quite some time.

I think bringing in a 2C is a mistake long term
Unless they lost faith in Mitts

Or unless it’s a young guy in a trade
