Indeed... as long as your fan base says you're elite on hockeybuzz, that's all that matters, things like championships and playoff series wins are overrated, all you need is 100 point season and a few fans hanging from your nut sack!

I just dont get why they're hanging out in here with their team on the verge of clinching a playoff series win in so long.... good luck and enjoy!! But instead you're trying to convince a bunch of Hab fans in the Habs blog that the Leafs are "elite"?
- obie

well the blogger did write a blog about something which happened in game 5.

Lol.

I dont think he needs your money to go to a leaf game.

Besides no way youd be able to arrange a second mortgage on easter sunday.

Leafs were 4 points from missing the playoffs and haven't won a playoff series in 15 years.

And with their cap situation they won't be improving much more, players will be exiting and replaced with cheaper but lesser talent, starting as early as this summer... a good team they are, mainly down the middle but elite? I'm not convinced...

So who is leaving though? Because they can end up moving guys like Zaitsev and Brown and keep everyone else.
Also, why are you going back to 2004 to argue about their core now?

Well then Zaitsev and Brown would be leaving... along with Gardiner and possibly one of Kapanen or Johnsson... and that's to start, but that's not the point, the point is, the Leafs wont have room to add without moving core pieces out from now on...

I'm not evaluating their core now based on 2004, quite the opposite, that core actually won a playoff round, and until this core at least does that, you cant claim they're elite

It seems like that would do it.

You are assuming all their Marlies are busts then. Because Rasmus Sandin looks fantastic.
Why do they have to "Add"?

I'm not assuming anything, I couldn't care less... you're the one in the Habs thread trying to convince me the Leafs are elite and all I'm saying is we should wait until they at least win a playoff round before making that claim...

And Sandin, nor Liljergen are sure shot top 4 D, nice prospects but no guarantees, especially to step in next year in that role, cause one would assume Gardiner and Hainsey will be gone will very little money to replace them

I think it's great that you make this point, but even more important that you use it as an opportunity to flash the razor like wit of your obviously massive brain in the defense of your favourite team. Penit should take note on how its done.
