How many 5 th over all picks are 20 years old and did not play in the NHL? Simple question. He was drafted 3 full years ago. He is coming into his 4 th year and still not expected to make it out of camp to the Canucks. - VANTEL
Who the (frank) cares?
Hes a Canuck now and will be a top 4 guy on their blueline for years to come. The Canucks suck so why the rush to see him in the NHL?
To answer your question above.....Griffin Reinhart....

I’m not saying it was a great pick, clearly there were better choices if we look back, however, that doesn’t negate the fact he could still become a good defenseman because age is on his side. |

So there are already expectations that he will fail from the club? Not very smart to tell Joulevi or other clubs that they expect him to fail.
Or is this fan hyperbole that Joulevi isn’t expected to make it out of camp? |

PK Subban was a second round pick . Please get on topic or start another conversation. - VANTEL
Ok I’ll find a top 5-10 pick to make his debut at 20, which Juolevi would’ve done as he was playing well in Utica, however due to injuries he wasn’t able to. Shouldn’t be to hard lol. |

That is why one has played 99 AHL games and 8 NHL games and the other has played 18 AHL games 0 NHL - VANTEL
Again OJ injured and Sautner is 4 years older.....but thats JB's fault isn't it? |

You just answered my question.
First of all GR played 8 games in his third year in the NHL
Secondly that would have been one other if your facts were correct (and they were not)
Third everyone considers GR a bust for a top 5 pick and he has one more point and 8 more games than our superstar. |

Stop saying should have the fact is he will be 21 not 20 next month and has not played.
I have gone through the last 10 years of top 5 picks don't waste your time . You will find the answer is Reinhart and Dal Colle two other bad picks. |

Ugh, youre embarrassing yourself man. You asked what top 5 pick didnt play in the NHL at age 20.
GR played 8 games to start the season at the age 20 and then didnt play again that year.
You bet he's a bust but thats hardly an argument to suppport your ridiculous point that OJ is a bust. Different players.
Was OJ the right pick at 5? I didn't think so nor do I think so now but I have no doubt he will be a good player and hopefully itll stop your whining....[/img] |

Lets take Briesbois one year older (Apples to Apples) Briesbois taken in the third round has played 90 more games in the AHL NHL . Has more points and a better +/-.
The whole discussion that you seem to be missing is OJ should not have been a top 5 pick |

He would’ve played this year, Benning said so, it’s not debatable. You’re ignoring his injury, to fit your narrative and you’re offside, he would’ve played, no question.
The fact that he hasn’t dictates to your point that it wasn’t the best pick but there’s a reason which he hasn’t played yet and you’re pretending like that reason doesn’t exist.
Not very many defensemen are taken in the top ten, when compared to forward numbers, but, a guy like Mike Komisarek was drafted 7th overall and made his debut at 21, big deal.
Juolevi won’t be a star like Benning thought but he can still very much be a good player for the team. Can’t change it so just live with it. Benning’s not as good or bad as he’s made out to be. |

You need to read back . I said he was a bad selection for 5 th OA
He will be a NHL player and he will put up points and he will be a defensive wonder ( Not in a good way)
The point I am making he is one of the worst selections in the top 5 in the last decade. Nothing more .
He will play , you know he will play. |

He would have been given games only to silence the masses. Johnsen said last year they are still working on his game on the back end. I think he will be a NHL player and will put up points but I am also accepting there will be issues with the game in his own end. - VANTEL

You said that he would only play to silence the masses - thats your spin, no one elses.
Yet, you seem to use the fact that he was injured to prove some perverse point. Had he not been injured, he would have absolutely been called up to play, growing pains and all. Not just to "silence the masses". C'mon man, stop being such a drama queen..... - chompsey

How did Cody Hodgson's injury history go for the Canuck? OJ has had two major operations in two years. I suggest you not take it so it's fine.
I am sure his two month back surgery and knee surgery last year are nothing at all. |
