I agree learn to take a hit when it's not so hard you can get hurt, learn how to protect yourself

if you do it at a young age... it becomes second nature. learning it at age 13 or 14 or whatever, when some kids are getting near adult size or at least much larger... that's just dumb.

really was a poor decision.

I I may so bold as to ask, even if you want Toronto to win why wouldn't you want them to do it in 7 games? Your team faces the winner the more they play the bigger the advantage for you no?

We've been off long enough. I fear the Jackets are getting rusty. It's difficult to duplicate the playoff pace at practice.

seriously, reffing soccer far more difficult than hockey - and on average the parents are "way way worse" when doing kids games...

The PP format needs to change for game 7. It's the one realistic, tangible change they can make to confuse the Bruins and increase the effectiveness of the PP.

We've seen Matthews on the left side for the majority of the season on the PP and while it worked great at the beginning of the season, it was quickly scouted and shut down.

In this series, Matthews has scored a few goals from the right side. That's where Matthews should be on the PP.

Marner / Tavares / Matthews
Nylander / Rielly

Marner can still hit Tavares with the cross crease pass as well as Matthews, who has more of the net to shoot at. Think of Ovechkin / Stamkos but on the opposite side. Time and time again, it's a play that works and is hard to stop.

Nylander, as bad as he has been this season, should be on the PP. His flaws are outside of the offensive zone, but in the offensive zone, he has the skills to produce goals.

He's taken the heat off Matthews and allowed Matthews to get better match-ups and opened him up to score 5 goals this series.

That being said, Tavares has 1 goal in 6 games. It would be nice if he had at least one big game.

And you can be as mad as you want at Tavares for leaving Long Island, but you know damn well he makes any team he's on better.

He's an awfully expensive "distraction" to give AM the easy matchup. So, 2 players, $13Million/yr for 7 points in a playoff series? That's a sound cap strategy.

We're not really mad at him anymore....we just think he's a douche.

He must be thinking, "...damn...I could have been richer AND part of a much better team right now" #backfire

Not really when he was 3rd in league goal scoring this year.

I'm not sure where you get your "13 million for 2 players and 7 points" math from but if you want to talk about cap strategy, the Islanders are currently paying the likes of Ladd, Martin, Komarov and Clutterbuck a total of 14.5 million, some of them for many more years. Not to mention Eberle, Lee, Nelson and Lehner all ready to become UFAs and possibly leave like Tavares did.

You can call him names all you want, you know damn well that the Islanders would be better with him than without him, especially when that pop-gun offense stops getting lucky and that no-name defense gets exposed for what it really is.

The Islanders have a great GM, a great coach, a goalie standing on his head having a career year and a unified hatred of Tavares allowing them to put together an "us versus the world" campaign. Outside of that, the future of the Islanders isn't nearly as bright as you hope it is with virtually zero young, world class players to speak of outside of maybe Barzal.
