i thought it was a bit too early for leafs to pull the goalie.
i know all of the stats saying with one goal down goalie should be pulled 2+ minutes before the end of game.
however, that's in 'standard situations' (when you take a sample size of 1000+ games).
this was not a 'standard game' though - both because of its context (game 6 in playoff series) as well as how leafs were playing (they were making a good final push until the goalie pull).
as for the specific timing ('no possession by team') - i think it was mostly due to the fact that the regular moment (wait for an offensive zone faceoff) isn't great for leafs vs this bruins team, since high (60+%) chance of not winning that faceoff..
leafs with goalie pulled are not great - i would actually argue that leafs have better chances of playing 5v5 without pulling the goalie last 2 minutes, than actually pulling the goalie - since leafs haven't had much of offensive zone cycle well executed these playoff series (maybe only a few shifts).
it seems that pulling the goalie paralyzes the leafs players (afraid to make a mistake) and therefor it basically beats its purpose...

If the Leafs cant win this series, a couple things will sting.
Andersen has played really well and Tavares/Marner were able to keep Bergerson/Marchand pretty well in Check overall, and they still couldnt win. that will be very frustrating.

The Leafs have the slight edge overall in 5v5 play. PP/PK has been the difference.

I (frank)ing hate the Bruins and am sick of Game 7s

Anyone see Sean McIndoe's article in The Athletic titled "Down Goes Brown: The 2019 playoffs are total chaos. Is that good? It depends on your door."?

I highly recommend reading it. It sums up an internal struggle I've had with the playoffs for a while and still to this day have. I'm still door one, but that second door has cracked open quite a bit.

NBCSN actually had a good point on this after the game. With the Beregon line and on the ice not having position of the puck it was too early, among other points.

I thought the time left was fine; but you can't blindly just look at the clock. The game situation with the begeron line out there and not having the puck made it too risky.

(frank)ing brewns. that PP vs. our PK is just a terrible matchup.

Will suck if we lose the series on that difference.

Leafs specialty teams are costing the leafs the series.
If they get bounced again tomorrow, it may be time for big changes in the off season outside of the couple we already know.

Yep, that was going to play a huge part before the series even started.

DJ smith will be fired as soon as the series is over if they lose game 7.

But they’re not going to lose game 7 so it’s a moot point.

blame the coach is clearly a step in the right direction compared to blame the refs

next should be blame Gards...

That's definitely a start but you can't expect to win every face-off especially against Bergeron. You have to win the loss too. PK'ers are out of position and and lose structure too easily.

Why can't we walk and chew gum at the same time? Refs, coaching and Gards have been shyte this series

I think Hainsey just needs to wave his stick at the guy standing in the corner a few more times... that should help the PK.

Does Marleau do anything good anymore?

Willie does stufdf that makes you go WTF, but at least he can push play in the right direction. Marleau seems to get a pass from most, but he is really pretty useless

Ah, the old blame Hainsey thingy. Haha

I’m blaming Carlton the Bear, he gets off way too lightly it seems.

The plan is to keep the bump pass from getting to Bergy, not sure I’m a fan but it seems like the team plan last game.

Marleau does a chip and chase zone entry occasionally that he manages to recover.

His analytics say he has the puck all the time, so there’s that.

Worked out great. They should try something else next game, just for fun.
