What many of you are missing is that her song was SATIRE. The crazies on the Left pushed through their anti-American agenda yet again without anyone in a position of responsibility using more than two brain cells to suggest that they were going a step too far.

This whole situation is abominable and I am done with Comcast and the Flyers organization. Guess I'll be hanging out with Shawn Tilger...

- Tartan69

Yea, I'm not sure why this hasn't been mentioned more. The song was satire and was sung with a black man.

I would argue that trouba is a more talented player. But for our situation and what I think we need on this team spurgeon is a better fit. But quite frankly I'd be happy with either acquisition. Assuming Myers sanheim provorov are still on our team
- Tfaehner

Trouba is a much better fit to partner with Provorov on the top pairing than Spurgeon is.

Trouba is a better player, none of us have any idea who would be the better fit. That's ridiculous to claim he would be a much better fit.

1.) I'll be rooting for Toronto in Game 7. I absolutely loath everything Boston.
2.) That was 2012 Fleury on that game winner last night in OT. Still hoping for Vegas to pull it out.

And this is why going back to judge long after a person is dead is wrong. The song you are mentioning was a satire meant to show how ridiculous the white supremacist of the day sounded. No one seems to be questioning or defaming the black man who also sang it. So I had to ask myself, is it because Kate was white that her intentions with the song are condemned?

This is why there is or should be a statue of limitations on these racism witch hunts. If racism and equality are to be fought, it needs to be done in the present. This kind of going back and deciding someone’s intentions without them being able to speak is wrong. It just makes people sad, angry, frustrated and more divisive. Why is the focus on the past?

Matt Carle played on a top pair with Pronger. Doesn't mean he is a top pair defensman. I wonder how much playing with Suter affects Spurgen.

I just think Trouba's game fits better with the Flyers and gives you a legit top pairing defensman who can handle large minutes.

That’s their whole plan! Divide and conquer. Only problem is, there are two likely outcomes. One, the non violent way, divide the country in two, and pick your side. The other, a revolution. One side being socialist policies, socially engineered, the government creates dependent people, and is devoid of our country’s original culture, and the other, a democracy, where the culture we created and fought for, is respected. You can aspire to be have something without having it taken away to give to those that produce nothing. A place where immigration is responsibly controlled, and the countries bills are paid. Do I have to ask which side you think will win? Sad state of affairs, no common ground to build around, and more divided than ever.
This downward spiral started with Reagan and has gotten worse ever since, so it’s not the current or past administrations. It’s the selling out, and me first attitude of our politicians, yet we elect them, our teachers, and their revisionist history, and a multigenerational attitude of kicking the can down the road.
So, while this may seem like the removal of a statue of some nondescript woman, who died 35 years ago, it’s not. It’s a microcosm of the social, and cultural divide in this country.
Now someone show me a path to unite this country from its current split. I dare anyone. I’d love to see it!

Actually it is your post here that is ridiculous. If we can have an opinion on who is the better player then we can certainly also have an opinion on who is the better fit to pair with Provorov. If we can't have that opinion, does it also stop us from having an opinion on what free agent would be a good fit, what players would form a good line, etc?

Matt Carle at one time was an elite defenseman at 5 on 5 hockey. Together with Pronger, they made a strong pairing.

you just said he would be a much better fit, no explanation. Classic MJL trying to spin something by asking a bunch of crap in a philosophical bogus rant

My point was more sometimes it has to do with the guy he is playing with. I think when he was here it helped a lot with him playing with Pronger.

They are both good players in Spurgen and Trouba. So many variables in trades. Really dependent on a trade partner. Sounds like Fletch wants a top 4 D guy and is willing to trade assets to get what he wants.

I feel like he will move a D in the off season as well as sending Mac down to the AHL(which is light on D anyways). He will get an impact forward. Top six guy. I just feel he is more committed to moving pieces to get pieces then Hexy was. It will be fun to watch how things play out.

I didn’t love Matt Carle but if you’re one of four defensemen playing in a Stanley Cup Final because the coach doesn’t trust his third pair. You’re pretty good. Pronger, Timonen, Coburn, Carle.

I was aware that it was satire, but not that it was sung with a black man. Makes the idiotic decision by homer and Comcast even worse.

Can we all say with relative certainty that come Oct 1, if Spurgeon or Trouba are in our starting lineup, we'd be pretty happy?

Someone mentioned Shawn tilger resigned and I just searched this. Happened four days ago. Was it related to the Smith debacle? I really wonder what's going on with the organization?

I would really like to know from the people here, because honestly it's way more educated and way more logical than FB and CapFriendly, although the latter isn't too too bad. But what are the odds we make a run at an RFA, specifically Marner. Toronto's cap is not in an enviable situation for all the contracts they have and will need to sign, which is a good problem I guess, but what's gonna happen here? any takers on an offer sheet and what would it take?

My guess....7 years, 87.5 mil.

I would say 0.

I think Toronto would move Nylander and others to get Marner signed. Marner doesn't HAVE to sign an offer sheet.

On the surface, it doesn’t look related; however, IDK.

Uncertainty isn’t helping in what has been an epically bad year in Flyerland.

I doubt it!....at least no personal opinions. I think Bill is the best journalist around the Flyers, but he does work for them. One never bites the hand that feeds them. Honestly, he’s better off not weighing anyway, and I can respect that.

No of course not, definitely doesn't have to sign it, but at 21 years old getting offered a contract worth 12.5 mil a year, you dont think he would sign it?

In regards to Nylander, kid has completely disappeared in the playoffs and already has that holdout in the back of peoples heads. i dont think many people give what Toronto would want for a kid, perhaps with attitude issues, who doesnt back up his almost 7 mil AAV cap hit.

If not Marner, how bout Kapanen? I think Toronto gets poached for at least one RFA

I think we can all agree it's been a blood bath horrible year for the team. I was so optimistic going in. By November I knew it was a lost year. Gm coach fired 8 goalies no playoffs moving down in the lottery and now this. Wow.
