I doubt it!....at least no personal opinions. I think Bill is the best journalist around the Flyers, but he does work for them. One never bites the hand that feeds them. Honestly, he’s better off not weighing anyway, and I can respect that.

I agree. He's awesome and no need to weigh in but in a private convo I'd love to hear his take.

you just said he would be a much better fit, no explanation. Classic MJL trying to spin something by asking a bunch of crap in a philosophical bogus rant
- ClaudeFather

There is nothing philosophical about it. It's just a simple post that showed how asinine your comment of saying he is a better fit is ridiculous was. No spin or rant involved!

My point was more sometimes it has to do with the guy he is playing with. I think when he was here it helped a lot with him playing with Pronger.
- J35Bacher

I understood what point you were making. I just added a comment on Matt Carle.

Can we all say with relative certainty that come Oct 1, if Spurgeon or Trouba are in our starting lineup, we'd be pretty happy?

I like both players but can't say at this point that I would like what the cost would be to acquire.

Who would cost more, Spurgeon or Trouba? I think Trouba for sure.

To get his rights, do you think it would start with a Konecny/Ghost/Ratcliff/Hagg and draft picks?

Or if you would look at Spurgeon because we would offer less, would that be an advantage. Im asking for some commentary here

I agree, Trouba. It might start with the 11th pick. Are you suggesting all of those players or just one out the group?

Matt Carle was better than Randy Jones and Andrew MacDonald.

That is all.

No not all, maybe 1, maybe 2, but that would be the group i would go with, if draft picks would be involved, especially ours this year at 11. You have to assume with AV's hiring, and his statements, that we are gonna try to win now.

Obviously we can't predict if this is going to work or not, but the sentiment is we are taking the next step to become a legit contender. With that thinking, our draft picks in the coming years all should be at the very least in the 20's if things go according to plan, which is less value than bring a fringe top 10 pick clearly.

Matt Carle played on a top pair with Pronger. Doesn't mean he is a top pair defensman. I wonder how much playing with Suter affects Spurgen.

I just think Trouba's game fits better with the Flyers and gives you a legit top pairing defensman who can handle large minutes.

Spurgeon didnt play with suter the past 2 seasons.

It's tough for me to move 11 and a top prospect / one our young nhl d men for trouba. I'd rather have a lesser player. I dont want to move 11 or Myers provy sanheim.
