Michael-

Pommer was 4th in goals for the Sabres, playing limited minutes.

16 goals is above expectations.

6 less goals then the 2014 2nd overall pick
And actually less soft

Haters gonna hate

Pommer had some of the best in game memories of the past 8 years this year.

- Boss34

???? But he got mostly all those goals with jack I’m not 100% sure but I think 6 or 7 would be his total without jack

Asked Trouba if he plays a role in helping the Jets stay under the salary cap this upcoming season, he responds, “that’s Chevy’s job.”

So essentially, a hometown discount is not likely.

The guy has asked for a trade 3 times it seems he just wants to go to a USA team my thinking

for skinner that is kind of misleading because didnt he play most of his time with Jack? I honestly would have thought his would be higher. But is that because of PPP not being included in that?
- SabresFaninIndiana

It's more about ratio of time spent.

Pommer got about 65% of his production with Jack in only about 30% of his minutes.

Reinhart spent about 59% of his time with Jack. (Even strength)
Reinhart scored about 70% of his points with Jack.

Skinner spent about 67% of his time with Jack.
Skinner scored about 70% of his points with Jack.

So both did better away from Jackie Moon than Pommer did. Pommer basically did well with Jack and that's about it. All three benefit from paying with #9, but looking at ratios, these two do considerably better away from him than Pommer.

I don't think he should be on the team...he's a vanilla player who added very little to the sabres...I don't believe his perceived professionalism had a positive effect on the team nor do I believe that he offered anything of substance in interviews, even though the media constantly flocked to him for his insight into various situations
- Michael Pachla

Brilliant!
No sarcasm, I mean it.

He is the definition of soft.
If guys don't know how to go to the net and find open space themselves, then trade them.
That was Pommer's best attribute.

So, when adding in the 2 PP points with Jack, he's 20/31 pts with him. If my mafff is correct, Pommer scored 65% of his points in less than 30% of his time (the time spent with Jackie Moon).
- RhinoFan

My math is usually NOT correct, so i will trust yours.

Dobber doesn't provide minutes played with players; just percentages, but that would have been interesting. I'm sure i could calculate it, but I'm lazy

You really could say the same for :

Sam
Skinner
And anyone else that played a regular shift with John Jack

Why couldn't the Sabres find anyone else to ride along with John Jack. Pommer did the job.

At 37 I'd rather him be here then:
Cj Smith
Sobatka
Larrson
Girgs
Wilson
Okposo

Perspective I guess

- Boss34

True that.
However, Pommer should also be on that list of eventual departees.

The only way Pommer exceeds expectations is if you had 4th line expectations. If you expected solid middle 6 play, you didn't get it.

According to Dobber, 65.5% of his points came with Eichel - 19p

Skinner also had 62% of his points with Eichel

Sam Reinhart had around 61% of his points with Eichel

All stats via Dobber at even strength

We need a points-per-minute-with-Eichel stat. Who utilizes their time with him the best? I'm tempted to say it would be Reinhart because Pominville took some of his RW minutes away

Agreed.

Still think he has another gear that he's only been able to show in spurts.

Sabres should trade for Raanta at the draft cost is probably a 5th and he would be the starter till 6k is ready

False on all accounts. they'll roll into next season with Raanta starting and Kuemper backing up, and will have no issues what so ever with it. A smart team would trade for Kuemper at the TDL to back up.
