It was a questionable call but really the refs got it close to right...the blood pushed them over the edge for the 5 min call. regardless it was a full on crosscheck by Eakin and Stasny taking out his legs so really it's 4 min in penalties anyways...or a 5 on 3 as Eakin and Stasny should have both been heading to the box.
Anyways I could see two goals on the PP but 4? VGK could have locked them down on the PP it was actually kind of a good ol fashioned choke by VGK. Tough for me to fully blame the refs for that one. Many said last night on the sports broadcasts that the call cost them the game but come on...4 goals on a 5 min PP really? lol
Nice to see the Vegas gary Bettman's out though...

I think that the cross check wasn’t even a penalty — as it wasn’t a nasty cross check, more like a two handed push that happen multiple times a period in the playoffs. It was a super unfortunate play that he landed on his head. If statsny wasn’t there, Pavelski maybe falls backwards, gets up, play goes on.
I’m all for punishing more severely for injuries, but the intent and overt illegal action has to be there first. I don’t think it was.
Vegas definitely didn’t come up on the PK, so marks to SJ on taking it to them there and seizing momentum. 5 minutes is kind of tough, though.
Also, don’t get why you call them Bettman’s team? |

Cross check was a penalty at least for 2 min IMO. Like I said if he wasn't bleeding that bad may have been a different call. Plus should have been another 2 min for Stasny taking out his legs. Is what it is...tough to fault the refs here should have been at least a 5 on 3 for 2 min with Eakin and Stasny both heading to the box.
I like Vegas' tenacity and the way they play...but the preferential treatment they got from Bettman (especially last years run) gets me agitated. Bettman changed the expansion draft rules specifically so Vegas could have a good team early...plus they are exempt from the Seattle expansion draft which is utter bullsh!t IMO. Plus expanding when the league should be contracting and moving clubs to Hockey markets...but that's not the way Gary operates. Cash Cash Cash lol |

Yep. Plus the rift between Babcock and Matthews appears to not be solved.

I had Dallas pegged on the Rinne factor for the most part.
My bad I actually went 2/4 on the picks in the est I had Wpg over STL so I had Dallas and SJ lol. Didn't expect WPG and CGY to lose .
Eastern picks suck too. Need WAS to win to go 2/4 as well. - LordHumungous

I like the post that stated Nylander and Babcock got into a shoving match and Mariner has stated that he won’t re-sign while Babcock is coaching.
Apparently from some guy named Howard Berger.

Hmm, didn’t see any preferential treatment for them in the last years playoffs, but wasn’t looking for it. They just took over games with how they played I thought.
Bettman and the owners changed the rules in part because all the other expansion teams SUCKED. Hard to buy a team for $500 mill or whatever it was, in a city with no pro teams, and have them really suck for the first 8 years. And, with that being said, pretty much EVERYONE had Vegas as a bottom 5 team after the expansion. They worked their asses off from the top down and surprised everyone. Wouldn’t credit that to Bettman at all.
They’re exempt from the draft because they’re an expansion team themselves, plus they don’t get a slice of the money. Hard to tell them they’re going to lose people right after they come into the league (their place in the standings shouldn’t matter here).
Yes, Gary likes his teams in the States, unfortunately would like to see at least one relocation to Canada, throw us a bone |

Love the rationale that Vegas is exempt because they don’t get expansion money. For fans of every other team that will lose a player, who cares if the billionaire owner of Vegas doesn’t get some money. It’s great for the greedy owners and crappy for the fans. |

The rationale is that they just came into the league last year. They’re still a new team, regardless of where they are in the standings. They haven’t had the time to build up depth that other teams do and have.
If they finished in the bottom 10 of the league, would people be as mad that they’re exempt?
What if there was another team with Vegas, and they were in the bottom bit of the league with Vegas in the top: should only Vegas be in the draft, or both, or none?
Also, if you read properly, I said “plus” they don’t get a slice. In addition to the main point. But way to cherry pick that 👍 |

First off, another team didn’t come into the league with Vegas, so that point is irrelevant. Two, they have good depth and wouldn’t suffer if they lost a player. It is all about the money. 👍

I think Vegas deserves a break. They have has to endure some very bad years of Celine Dion and Wayne Newton as their top entertainment. |

Still can’t believe SJ won that game last night! Eakins must be on suicide watch today from the blown call. Hopefully the Caps win tonight to set up a Trotz vs Capitals reunion. Plus the Hurricanes franchise is childish and stupid lol. |

Wait, one didn’t? Wow, I. Am. Shocked.
It’s a thought experiment. The point is, regardless of where they are in the standings, they’re a brand new expansion team. I’m sure Bettman and the owners knew when Vegas was pitching that another expansion was probable, and assured them that they’d be exempt — probably a condition for them. It’s a business, so yes, the owners and the league as a whole do care about money. |

Well Datsyuk, Zetterberg and a few other DET players did approach DET MNGT claiming that if Babcock re-signed in DET they were all gone...
