For everyone not wanting EK, just remember that he had 45pts in 53 games last year and was a positive player while playing backseat to Burns. You guys mention how bad guys like Burns, Gio, EK etc are on defense...These are the types of guys that are up for the Norris every single year, and you all want a Norris calibre D. EK would be expensive, but he would make us a playoff team IMO. Imagine EP, Boeser, Bo, Hughes, EK as our PP1.
I am not saying we have to sign him at any cost, but we are in a position where we can sign him without hurting our future cap with EP and Hughes signings. We just need to be careful how we acquire a proper winger for EP and Boeser. |

For him to sign in Vancouver you’d have to make him the highest paid D man I’m the history of the game. You willing to risk that for the next 7 years? |

Also, 4th lines don’t win you playoff series. Actually, they don’t win you presidents trophies either... |

Cheap 4th lines in general were praised in here but i'm thinking more media outlets, I guess. Muzzin took over Gardiner's spot as team worst -6 this year. |

There are many cup winning coaches who would strongly disagree. |

Coaches, asst coaches, GM's, asst GM's would all strongly disagree
Whether or not the 4th line is good enough or able to get the job done is a different question |

its hard not to praise the work of teams who have cheap 4th lines when ours has a cap hit around 10 mill. |

Whatever Bub.
Show me a cup winning team where the 4th liners lead the team in scoring or win the MVP. Who got the cup from Bettman in Vegas last year? |

You need 12 forwards, 6 D and a goalie who all contribute, but it is always the best players on the team that you live or die with. |

I can see why people think Canucks fans blow things WAY out of proportion. Atta boy! Keep on keeping on. |

c'mon, everybody knows that the 4th line is where the cup is won.
many a gm has said (to the point that it's cliche), "you always build from the 4th line out." |

I honestly am on the fence. He is worth the 11m price tag he wants, but if his injuries are not behind him, then he definitely is not worth it. Our team is ready to push for the playoffs, and a guy like Ek does that. But also finding a top 6 ug for Ep's LW and a top 6 UG for Bo's RW will as well. Hughes looks like he can be that PP1 QB, which could make EK redundant in a year or two. But will JB want to go all in on Hughes solving that issue? Edler can't be our PP1 anymore, players have realized that if one guy hangs back behind him, they can steal the puck with ease from the drop pass and kill off a huge chunk. I don't think we should go for Risto either, he is a RHD version of Gardiner. Sure the offense is nice, but what good is a 40-50pt dman if he is costing you more chances against that he does for? |

Building a team around Jay Beagle is like building a team around Alex Biega. |
