Canada doesn't produce gasoline from its oil reserves. Different kind of oil. Gasoline for cars comes from middle east supplies and Texas (Brent and Texas intermediate). Canada oil no good for cars.

I believe most of our oil goes into manufacturing. Someone with better knowledge may correct me...

you are right. We don't refine it. Why we don't though, is beyond me.

We do refine, just not the correct kind of refining. There are 15 refineries producing nearly two million barrels per day. Canada's reserves are third largest only to Venezuela and Saudi Arabia. Over 95% of these reserves are in the oil sands.

We can't get at our reserves without creating large amounts of pollution based on today's standards. It's frustrating as hell.

didn't put the infrastructure in place decades ago due to $ (dumb and short-sighted politicians).

won't do it now due to bad politics (and/or probably better to invest in forward looking technologies.)

Zegras assist on Caufield’s 10th of the tournament. 🤯
- DrChristianTroy

For me, in the 10th spot, Boldy is my guy but Caufield and Zegras may be available, who do you grab?

Canucks are going to get a real good player there. Very excited to see what transpires.....

The way Caufield is playing, some GM may reach and pick him in the top 7. With the right center, holy poop, watch out....

Saudi Arabia produces 12 million barrels per day. Canada produces 2 million even though we have close to the same amount (just harder and more expensive to access).

Edit: USA produces 11 million barrels per day.

you're right but if their had been the (political) will to focus more on refining or building refineries decades ago, the industry would be different.

it's similar to our province's exporting of raw lumber and importing finished wood products. the lumber industry drove the province for decades and decades but it was mismanaged by shortsightedness.

we're a raw materials colony.

isn't that the old saying? "drawers of water and hewers of wood."

That's the thing it's the extraction process that's contrived as 'dirty' but that's debatable as well. The Oil is fine technically once refined but yet TruDope has Saudi Tankers arriving at the eastern Seaboard every day when we have perfectly good Oil in Canada.

Larger forces at work too:

Thats fair. Just saying, he's getting a lot of buzz right now given what hes doing.....

Just for argument sake I might go:

Boldy
Zegras

But from what I've read, majority of scouts have Zegras ahead of Boldy....

You're hilarious if you think that would lower gas prices
- anavar

lol yeah only every analytics firm in Canada based on the petroleum industry has said it would but we'd be better off listening to the environmentalists with their degrees in arts-history.

100%. That's what drives me nuts. If technology wasn't purposely suppressed Canada would be Saudi of the North. Our governments have placated Super Powers for so long, we've forgot how to be truly competitive. Sold ourselves out so not to be confrontational.

the country was built on not being competitive and servicing the super powers.

still the same mentality but embedded within economic agreements between governments (or governments and MNCs.)

Please do a deeper dive into his role on the ice. Dude’s linemates play short handed when he’s out there. He’d be a detriment to EP & Boeser 5v5. Their line needs a collaborative talent on LW.

Caufield is shooter on the most automatic PP of all time & a floating goalsuck 5v5. If you want 40g 12a upside, I guess you can go ahead & take him 10th overall.

His skating is in question as well.....

But his goal-scoring is automatic. That you can't teach.
