No, this clickbait narrative is way overblown.

Babs overplays his veterans, dinosaur.

Barry Trotz plays Matt Martin at 5v5 as much as Matt Barzal, savant, visionary, legend.

Babcock loses a hard fought 7 game chess match against a veteran team that finished finished higher in the standing, fireable offense.

Jon Cooper gets swept by a WC after dominating the season, meh poop happens.

Thanks for the info. I just think we need a change moving forward. I wouldn’t trade Malkin that’s for sure.
- Barnaby36

Yep. They need plenty of changes. Like no JJ and no Guddy and no Cullen and no Wilson. It’s pretty simple.

That may be so, but I'd be curious to hear your opinion if Babcock had iced Matt Martin that often.

Matt Martin's last season in Toronto we were told he's not an NHL caliber player. Goes to the Island plays 3+ minutes more a night.

the entire nonsense doesn't happen if the officials call Debrusk for at a minimum a trip or imagine if they actually had the balls to call it correctly - and throw the book at Debrusk for a cheap knee on knee hit.

this would be more of concern if the circumstances surrounding the suspension and absolute bullpoop that proceeded it weren't so carefully "curated" by the quality of NHL officiating and their abhorrent lack of judgement.

You can pretend you don't know what I'm talking about - but quite frankly with a series this close to have officials make as much of an impact - and everyone simply chosing to ignore than because it benefit their team - is simply dishonest.

I'm sure Vegas feels the same way.

Bruins has experienced similar garbage playing against the Habs in the past.... but selective memory and terrible homer game coverage allow people to believe what they want.. not what actually happened. You know - alternative facts.

- BorjeFan4Ever

So you feel that a 2min penalty would have prevented Kadri from being a douchebag and cross checking a guy in the side of the head? The " kneeing" was borderline at best... and we can say that because the league reviewed it and didn't suspend DeBrusk.
Not cuz he is a Bruin, not cuz they were paid off, not cuz it was a leaf getting hit, but because it wasn't a on ice incident that required a goddamn suspension.

Losing Kadri didn't help you guys, I get that, but you overrate the guy a bit.

So if I got all this right... it's Babcock's fault you lost the series, no wait, it's the Ref's... hang on... it's Kadris fault, uhh Leafs Gms fault.
Wait.. I know.. It's because you were out scored in 4 or 7 games. That's why you lost guys, simply outscored in a close series. The Leafs played well and carried the play a lot but sometimes no matter how well a team plays sometimes it just isn't enough.

Vegas has had enough success already to make a solid comparison to Toronto's last half century. They can suck a lemon for the next 50 for all I care.

Excellent article. Agree 100 percent. His love of himself is killing the team. Stupidest waste of assets in the NHL. Pure ego. The man couldn't get laid in a hoar house with a fist full of 50's. Time to move on.

All he had to do was play his best players. Always play them when big games are on the line. Leafs would have won if he would have given Matthews the reins. I truly believe that

Just goes to show you how amazing it was for the Pens to go back to back. Caps were fried in both of those OT's......they had nothing left.
- madmike71

And I was laughed at for saying the Caps were a better match up than the Isles. (Not saying you in particular because I don't remember who, but most of the people on here.)

Yep, no other series has people pouring over all the coaching decisions of one guy, no other coach is scrutinized anywhere close to the same degree. Leaf fans do it because they're tweakers and can't accept that just because you have a good team now you don't automatically win, so it must be the coaches fault. Other fans have adopted this special expertise on Mike Babcock since he came to Toronto.

There's pretty much just as many people in here that crucify Matt Murray as there were people who crucified MAF, and I think there's a couple who are in the middle of the Ven and crucified both. Being a goalie in the Burg must blow.

Realizing you posted this pretty late last night, I hope 'plenty of changes' for the Pens goes much deeper than these guys. Yeah, it was their fault the Pens got swept. C'mon.

Oh you hit it right on the head. Only thing is I have been a bruin fan since 1967. Actually saw the greatest of all time in person. You probably don't know who Johnnypie is which is a small hint of my favorite team. My displeasure with Ryan Wilson is the fact that he hates any player that hits and plays with grit and throws the b.s. about how the corsi % skill player is a proven winner. Mocks 4th lines with players like Martin and Acciari etc even though they prove their worth over and over. Don't really care about Babcock but for this guy to call him a fraud is a joke. Gardiner was hurt but he should have played more ? Mocks Komarov who just stifled Malkin and Polack who averaged over 19 minutes a game in his teams first round victory. I guess playoff results don't matter only Corsi stats.

John "Pieface" McKenzie...good player. a "Boston Bruin type player".

I heard Hornqvist and Maatta for Subban
- YouMeAndDupuis9

Jesus, sign me the hell up. There's no way this happens, but at least now I can be hopeful, and then disappointed when Maatta is traded away for Gudas and a 6th.

Ha! Imagine trading Maatta for Gudas. "Now here's a guy that we feel will add pushback to a team I felt was taken advantage of on too many occasions, but can play good hockey too," says Jim Rutherford for the fifth time in three years.

Those are the players I'd like to not see again next season and I will add the coach and GM to that too...but we know thats not happening, at least not right away as far as the coach is concerned.
