I thought it was kind of odd after I saw the first couple but counted Zegras during yesterdays game had 9 back hand no look passes to teammates. They all connected I believe. I thought it to be a bit odd it kept happening and I feel as if it could be a recipe for disaster in the NHL.
Jack Hughes was also very good in that game. Much better overall game and carried his line tremendously.

Another no look spinning pass by Zegras in a different game. "He's done it multiple times this season and in this case Cole Caufield was the beneficiary."

Dont worry. When they bring back Gillis we can pick up where we left off 5 years ago.

What do you mean? The second round is today. Denver has got two picks now! I'm excited. Already got a really good looking Tight End yesterday. - manvanfan
Seattle started out with 4 picks, now they have 9, none in the 6th or 7th, pretty impressive.
Take note JB. |

In the NFL draft, I would trade down every year unless I was picking a can't miss prospect in the top 5.
I'd probably do the samething in the NHL if drafting 8-12, generally after 7 you aren't getting a top line player anymore so why not get two middle 6 players instead of 1. Of course unless you are thinking you are getting on of those 7 really good prospects |

Schneider played his cards well, incredible job by him acquiring double his picks and getting a great pass rusher in Collier at #29. |

Hey Makita, i'm not a Jays fan.
I was however an Expos fan.
Everything i've heard from before he was drafted to now is Vlad jr. is just like his dad. - golfingsince
My oldest brother played for the expos farm club in 71, my dad was transferred to Victoria and mom wouldn’t let him stay in Quebec. That ended his career dreams at 17.
At that time he was the youngest player to hit a home run at Jarry Park, 6’4” excellent pitcher. |

There's a couple of big hedge fund managers who are really into sports analytics. One of wrote an algorithm/analysis on the nfl draft. He found that the majority of nfl teams vastly overrate the 1st round pick especially when trading.
His conclusion was that you should always trade the 1st round pick because you'll pick up a few 2nd and 3rd picks for it. Those players have a high probability of making an impact (almost as much as a 1st rounder. )
They were hired by a few teams to present their findings. The team's listened, said it made sense but usually did the opposite i.e. trade for a 1st round pick rather than trade it away.
Schneider and the seahawks seem to buy into this reasoning.
**** the nfl draft and the nhl draft are not similar so I'm not advocating the same strategy ***** |

yeah, much harder to predict in the nhl due to how young the kids are. |

It is a different league. I think with NHL prospects, it's easier to identify the players because the game is different. |

From his little highlight video it looked that way. Ran a 4.50 _40. That's quick for a TE |

yeah, there's a few reasons. as anavar pointed out, the age difference in draftees allows the nfl to evaluate adults rather than kids.
plus, with the amount of players/roster, it's easier to pick up top prospects in their position in rounds past round 1.
a couple of good drafts and an nfl team can go from rebuild to contender.

I'd say it's the opposite. It's easier to identify the prospects for the NFL because they all play in the same league ( over 99% ).
The grading system is different for both drafts though and the roster size combined with average career length make it more feasible to trade down in the NFL, especially when several players have similar grades.

Hockenson went 8th, that's a little high IMO. Actually, they both went a little higher than I thought they would.
Some really good players available tonight. |

plus with non-guaranteed contracts, it's a lot easier to dump an underperformer and just draft his replacement. |
