Too funny. The first thing this guy thinks about is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Sure the Maple Leafs had a disappointing 100 point season and a disappointing playoff, losing to the team with the second most points in the regular season in Seven games.

Ottawa came dead last. They traded their own 1st rounder away. Sure they are the "rebuilding Ottawa Senators" but they continue to be a budget team with an owner who has proven he won't sign his stars to long term deals. So, say bye bye to Chabot, Tkachuk et al when they need to get paid.

The Leafs had been horrible for the better part of the last 50 years. Zero Cups over that period. The same as the Ottawa Senators. Congrats on that runner up finish a decade tho

I’m still feeling pretty high after the Leafs loss.

Leave the Leafs fans alone, they've been through enough these last couple days geeeezus. I was surprised to read Sens have never won game 7, but than I thought about it for a minute and it makes sense.
- forbetterorWORSE

With the Panthers getting coach Q, the real best coach in hockey, it'll be harder for the Torontoe team to make the playoffs next season.

The Panthers have alot of talent but they can't bring it together. It has to happen eventually and youre right Q might be the answer. I still think the Leafs make the playoffs next year, like Trevor said, they are a better team than some teams remaining this year.

Is that so?

Uhh, I don't think there was anyone else other than me, with 1 post on the first page, in which every single post was by a Sens fan or similar, nearly entire about the Leafs.

LOL.

Yeah, 3 of the top 4 teams in the East are gone, with only Boston remaining. it's wide open now.

smart money is on boston to win the East. Overwhelmingly.

Funny hey?
Leafs blow a 3 to 2 series lead and they abandon the Sen’s blog that they posted in every day for months.

SensArmy....Go hang up your "series win" banner if it helps you sleep at night. You support a team with a mickey mouse owner who lost his three best players recently because he won't pay them. Worry about that...
- BernardShakey

thanks, I will

you don't even have a "series win banner" to hang up....despite unlimited resources. maybe you should hang up your "franchise value" banner, or your "we have to massively overpay people to get them here" banner

less painful than blowing another series lead to the Bruins, and having no 1st rd pick to fall back on................and I won't even get started on the cap hell you're team is about to enter.

The best part is that the Laffs are the ones who traded Tuuka Rask to the B's in the first place. He'll beat them every single time. Andrew Raycroft... lol.

So, having THE worst team, and organization in the league, with an AHL caliber roster, no first round pick, a horrendous owner, no proper building, and no hope to be anything but a basement team for many years (perhaps until there is an ownership change, which could be another decade or more), is, in your head, less painful than losing to a top team, who was favoured by the way, because there is a single division with 3 of the top teams in the league????

Bahahahaha, interesting take. You're welcome to your take, but there is no question I'd rather be in our shoes than yours, and i'm pretty sure you can ask just about every hockey fan outside your fanbase, and they'd say the same.

Yeah, no series win banners ... except for the 4 against Ottawa, I guess.

Overpay to get people to come to Toronto? to whom are you referring, Tavares? who took LESS to come to Toronto?

While we are on that topic, you are a fan of a team whose 3 best players refused to re-sign there.

Good lord SA, I totally get while you are thrilled the Leafs lost. It's cool. I would feel the same about a team I hated. Really though, if you are going to tee off, you might pick a topic where your own team was not so miserably weak.

for example... keep it simple and point out that your team has at least been one win away from a cup final, and made it to a cup final in anyone's recent memory. THAT would at least be a chirp that Leafs fans really can't address

Sure, I feel pretty much the same way. I think most Leafs fans do. I probably differ from most Leafs fans in that I think the current Leafs core is not going to win anything, ever. Not in 1 year, not in 2 years, or 3 ... or 5. I also think Matthews is gone first chance he gets.

The other side of all that though is that there is still a lot of high end young talent on the team and they just lost a 7 game series to the second best record in the league (I think). It isn't like they lost to Vancouver or Detroit or something. Boston is a damn good team, with probably the best line in hockey. The Leafs #2 Dman also couldn't skate. It was pretty obvious. Their top line LW was playing with a torn ACL, and their 3rd line center, who would be a 2nd line center on most teams, pulled the idiot trick out of his hat again and missed most of the series.

So, while I am not the most optimistic of Leafs fan, there is an argument to be made that things aren't quite as gloomy as you would like

You can't blame them for being happy the Leafs lost though. We would be the same.

We have been in their shoes, where you don't have a lot of great stuff to cheer about your own team... but at least the team and fanbase you hate isn't going to win either.

The mood here is totally understandable.

you had to pay your painfully overrated coach double any other coach to go there.

there has never been any confirmation that Tavares took less money

you paid Matthews 11 mil coming out of his ELC, and didn't buy a single UFA year, and you're probably about to do the same to Marner

Your team has lots of money and lots of fans, but most players don't want to go there to deal with the overwhelming scrutiny that they are under ALL THE TIME by fans and media.

what player has ever given the leafs a "discount" to play there.....and don't say Tavares, he wasn't getting more anywhere else....that's just BS the leafs probably floated ot the media to make the contract look better.

you guys have been the poster children for NHL failures for more than half a century. you can start trash talking when you win ANYTHING....a division, a conference title, a major award, a president's trophy.....anything. cup is the ultimate goal, but you guys have literally won NOTHING (individual or team) for decades.
