Missed it last night, so thanks to Jimbo for posting it. Smart play with the drag and great passing on the goal. - Fenrir
Yeah but if it's the puck carrier, isn't the rule that the player can precede the puck into the zone anyway? Because a player can actually skate backwards into the zone if he has control of the puck. |

I'd be upset that they lost but what the (frank) am I really going to complain about?
Everyone, myself included, assumed they'd be in the basement fighting with you guys for the 1st overall pick
I'd be bummed out for a few hours but then I'll remember that we're going to be busy this summer and have a ton of cap space. This is the beginning of things for the Isles, not the end. - eichiefs9
Yeah, you guys are in good shape.
Not saying this to open old wounds, how much better do you think the Isles would be if PJ Boy stayed? |

So when we play Russian Roulette how many bullets do you want in the gun? 6? |

Well that's hardly fair.
The Isles played a broken Penguins team while the Canes faced the Ovechkin PP Cheatcode.
There were only 24 times when a team was shorthanded in the Pens/Isles series, vs 49 times in Canes/Caps. |

Listen, I'm still all in on the Canes and hope they win. Just telling you what I think. Canes in 6. |

Easy answer: Much better, they probably could've finished ahead of the Caps and won the Metro.
More complicated answer: That would've been a ton of cap dedicated to one guy. If the whiff on Panarin they can spread the money around and build a really strong, deep team that may thrive better in Trotz's system. No guarantee of that obviously, but if I recall (and I may be wrong) their offer to him was $11.5M AAV. They could add Duchene and still have plenty of money to spend elsewhere.
Keeping him could've made them better this year but hampered them in the long run. |

before the playoffs started I put a poll up on twitter, would you take the Islanders winning the Cup if it meant the Rangers win the lottery?
I think somebody took this deal and made it happen - jimbro83
But we didn't actually "win" the lottery... so that's good news! |
