For round two I think the Bills should go with Hakeem Butler, Greedy Williams or Dalton Risner. If he continues to drop, I would try to trade back into the 2nd and get Jawaan Taylor if we don't take Risner. Another guy I like later in the second would be Juan Thornhill. With two 4ths, 5ths and 7ths we are definitely in the position to move up, maybe a couple times even.

Not high on Hakeem. AJ Brown fits the system much better. Greedy Williams is a press corner, something this team does not employ. Byron would get McBeane's loins sweaty if he was there at 40. Dalton Risner and Jawaan Taylor would be excellent here.

Let's be fair, the entire city collapsed hatred upon the Bills for skipping over Rosen.

Why would we want to barely make the playoffs when we have the 7th pick?

Just to be swept by Tampa?

- Boss34

Sorry Boss, not directed only at you but several posters who have commented similarly...

Does ANYONE seriously think the April 2nd 2019 Sabres were in the same universe as Colmbus, let alone Tampa. That line of thinking is friggin hilarious.

No.
Didn't think so.
Let's get real.

Housley ain't Torts
The Sabres roster hasn't yet bought in completely.
The Sabres are soft as hell and had
- 3 guys who could score
- A defense that gets confused counting to 2
- goaltenders who are both backup quzlity.

Here’s the point though, the proper analysis isn’t what the April 2019 Sabres were, it’s what the April 2019 Sabres might have been if we eschewed the tank mentality and used the 7OA and other assets to get Coyle, or similar players, who might have allowed us to continue the momentum, and not only improve the team by adding different talented players, but also by contributing to the growth of our existing players through more success.

And nobody should be saying the Sabres had to beat Tampa or Columbus, we’re just contending that success can be as valuable a path to growth as failure can be.

I don't have to look, I remember it like it was yesterday.
I was one of the more vocal...anybody but Josh Allen...and my outrage was further heightened by the fact they couldn't move up to get Baker Mayfield.
Cleveland has become my 2nd favorite team now.

I was neutral. You and 89 both supported the pick. Props.

*checks in to see if GERBE slit his wrists...

Welcome to Buffalo, Josh!!! Go Bills!

6 posters are the entire city?

And are they still "done with the Bills", like they said they were? Or was it, just like most things on here, a gross overreaction?

No offense taken:

Sabres need to break this trend of not icing the best team possible.

How many teams have done this for going on 6 years?

Tank for 23 should have taken leon
Tank for mceichel
Sorta try , but fail and take nylander (which was a fail)
Trade no one at the deadline/ draft mitts
Completely tank for dahlin, svech or tkachuk
Not ice the best linup/ no 2C

In between , trade ror, and ek9 for futures

Trust me dude, this board was a microcosm of the initial reaction to Josh Allen.

I'm a huge Allen fan, and it didn't take me long to become one. But a great majority of fans wanted Rosen over Allen. Check the records.

I'm still not sold on Allen. Hope he takes a big step this year. So far, Jackson has had more professional success than the Joshes

I see you really liked your post to put it up twice, lol.

The real point is they were not in a position to acquire
-2C
-2 & 3 RW
- #2 D
- #1 Goalie
The traded 1 pick in Montour.
One more trade using another 1st wasn't bringing in a haul anywhere close to any one of those since at the TDL they were in the 11-13 position if my poopty memory recalls so what accurately.

Your list of needs is an optimal roster.

A roster doesn’t need to be optimal to get in. And getting in is a different (in my mind better) way to succeed.

Well, I was likely wrong judging on 3/4 of a season.
I do like Josh's development, he seems bright and a leader the other players respect.
I do think he needs to fix a number of things..but he is very young so I am now hopeful and his future seems bright.

It ain't over for another 2-4 years to see where everyone settles in.
