both McLean and Burke must listen to the TSN morning show... Coliovacovo said that at about 8am on THursday morning after Washington's eliminiation. So neither McLean or Burke had an original thought there.
kinda makes you think that maybe its about team - and not one or two guys?
or that maybe you can't have passengers at that price point? - BorjeFan4Ever
Kinda makes me think it is coincidence. |

I was talking about the comparables that make the most sense..Tavares, Matthews and Marner ..who are 60-70% more
what does it have to do with Rielly?
he is a D in his 6th NHL season.
Maybe compare his 19-21 seasons - senstroll
the whole point is your first phrase.
to you, Nylander is a comparable to Tavares, Matthews, Marner.
to me (and Borjefan) he's not in that category at all...
even if you go to the comparable tier of Kadri (4.5mln) (if just limiting to FWs) there is no way Nylander should be on 7mln AAV. |

first, you should shorten your posts..they are long and interest fades in reading long drown out posts..so ill be honest I didnt read it all
but on this
CAP consumption vs contribution. Leafs don't Nylander any where near as much as a bunch of others.
This is probably why they make 60-70% more - senstroll
No, it’s long post season.
You don’t have to engage. |

I only mean that he is a top line forward.
He is not as good as them, which is why the others make 60-70% more (Marner TBD) |

Balance is very important on a hockey team. Willy doesn’t deserves anywhere near what he’s getting paid. That (frank)s everything up. If they can move him and get a decent return, they should jump on it immediately. |

I think more people should talk about the Jays and the Best prospect they have have had playing tonight
Best prospect since Trout.
The Leafs have never had a player that good start out as a Rookie |

nylander isn't a topline forward.
you know who is a topline forward?
zach hyman.
40 points in both of his last 2 seasons.
shows up in playoffs.
kills penalties.
knows that he's not as good as some of his linemates skillwise, but still brings what others don't bring (compete level, winning puck battles, winning physical battles etc.)
all for a salary of 2.25m AAV. |

If Dubas doesn’t, and they don’t make it out of the first round again, he’s (frank)ed. This team isn’t a fringe playoff team. They’re built to win the cup. |

Should have gave Matthews and Nylander some tougher assignments and competition in their 1st couple years together. This is on management why we are paying so much in salary. It's not the players fault, they don't pick their ice time etc.
Instead they made Kadri do all the dirty work ( and his linemates ) but he was already under contract for a great #.
Just a thought, maybe Matthews/Nylander don't put up the huge #'s playing in Kadri's spot 16-17 and 17-18. |

Balance.
That’s why Hyman plays a top 6 role. You need some grit, skill, and defensive awareness on every line. |

Even if they trade Nylander and get no salary back...they have 12,227,667 to sign

Johnsson (2-3.5mil)
Kapanen (2-3.5mil)
with
Rielly
Z

We’ll see what they can do with Marleau/Zaits or perhaps Naz, but if they can’t pull off major salary adjustments, Nylander is gone. |

after start of season they can put Horton on LTIR, so +5.3million.
That should cover Johnsson and Kapanen ideally - I wonder whether Leafs will have to wait until start of season to sign both of them just because they don't have enough capspace before.

Kapenen and or Johnsson will be offer-sheeted.
Nobody will offer-sheet Marner.
If you look at the compensation, teams can give Kapanen and Johnsson reasonable offers for a 2nd round pick. |

remember when Kessel was a 40 goal scorer... who never scored 40 goals?
so is Nylander a 60+ point winger when he gets like 30 points ?
inquiring minds want to know? - BorjeFan4Ever
He scored 61 points his first two years, so yes, he is a 60+ winger unless you just want to ignore the fact that he had an off year due to his contract dispute which would frankly be ridiculous

And wouldn’t doing that lock the cap for Toronto, like what happened with edmonton this year? I heard them saying that on 1050 |
