Re:Going ons
Or brick bats (always wanted to say brick bats)

Gone: Panarin
Coming (?): Duchesne

Two goal scorers tonight
If we get into playoffs, we could claim to have a playoff scorer in Duchesne. Bur we need to change out many players before we can handle the rough stuff inherant part of playoff hockey

Agree with you 100%. And that doesn't mean going out and acquiring face punchers. Every time the suggestion is made to get tougher, that's what they think you mean. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Why a Cozens scouting report sounds like he would help more than other prospects in top six top tier.
There is a pro con discussion to be made each prospect. Recall though the too soft prospects in round one we have traded. TT has come around A FEW YEARS AFTER DRAFTED. TOO EARLY TO SEE HOW SCHMALTZ TURNS OUT.

Most people who mock "face punchers" aren't saying when a suggestion is made that players have to be able to play without the fear of being hit, or players who must take a hit to make a play or guys who can play tougher along the boards or who can play a more physical game. I think if you read carefully that using the face puncher line is used after someone posts about player size or that a tough guy who can fight is needed to "protect" his teammates without regard if that player can even play the game. No player was tougher than Hammer, a guy who never really hit anyone but who was fearless and played his game and would take a hit to make a play. Or how about Kane, a small guy who played very well and excelled against teams who were considered tough. I have no issue with a physical player or even one who can fight so long as the most important criteria, hockey ability, is his main attribute.

Is it me or is the announcer calling David Savard, Marc Savard?

Actually Savard is just the kind of D man the Hawks need, a big dude who is not afraid of poop. He's getting pummeled yet keeps making plays to get the puck out the zone. Can chip in a little offensively too.

- kwolf68

Agree, Savard has come a long way. Wish the hawks had him.

I recall Kruger drawing ire here because he wasn't a big guy and he got hit all the time and we needed someone bigger and meaner on the 4th line.

You can question his ability to have his shot register on a speed gun but his kind of toughness, along with Hammer and others were integral parts of 2 Cups (Hammer 3 of course).

Like your response here. Sheer economics almost dictates the inability to carry a goon, even if you wanted one. Think our shared concern is a roster that overall is uniquely soft. Don't mind smaller players who play large, like Zuke in Dallas. The two guys (Hammer & Kane) you mentioned, were fearless because they accepted their role, and understood the game of hockey. However, we have defencemen on our roster, especially, who play like true gentlemen. For my money, they can find employment elsewhere. You need a touch of snarl. Teams cruised around our own end, like it was a public picnic area. This has to stop.

I saw that too! And, from what I observed, did a very credible job. Good for him! You don't think good coaching doesn't make a difference? Wow!

Both the newer and older versions of Kruger, always saw him playing with a huge amount of heart. Would get smeared along the boards while battling for puck control, and bounce back up after his beatdown. Played a huge role during the SC time period.

You do realize he spent the most of this season in the AHL, a whopping four NHL games this season.

playoff hockey is like no other professional sport...fun to watch...

Bobro was made stops in last night games that were something to behold particularly those off deflections and close in rebounds...bruins should have had that game won numerous times...rask has been outstanding also...

great action...unpredictable and the swings of mo from team to team...

Kahun is another example of a guy who gets it. Smart player who is small, but doesn't shy away from corners because of his size.

Agree with you, man. Was prepared to stay up during the morning hours to see the conclusion, if need be. Bob was insane in the Columbus net.

Yep and he just does his job.

Can't believe BJs win that game last night, but it took a man advantage every time to score.

Nice snipe by Panarin on the second goal.

At times BJs defense is all over the place, when they start chasing boy does it get ugly

3 goal posts is the reason this series is 1-1

Another really nice Euro addition by the scouting group. Still a young guy and think there is bit more upside there. Either way, gives you a fairly versatile top 9 player.

I also have to add, watching Boston i really like their defensive system, the way they use a triangle defense around the puck is really impressive, the 3 players do a great job of limiting options for the puck carrier and at the same time pressuring him

Kruger also has a knack of getting under the skin of opponents whether its crashing the net, being a pesky fly during board battles, or simply pursuing the puck aggressively until the whistle is blown to stop play but tacking on a few more attempts afterward. He's easily pushed aside and pummeled by the other team but that's not the point. What matters most is agitating the other team in incremental ways.

Just watched USA beat Canada 5-2 in the U18 Bronze Medal game (only caught the 3rd period). All the top USA players showed very well. Really liked Turcotte, and Hughes was Hughes but the guy who really impressed me was Zegras - WOW is he slick. Canada didn't have some of their best players because they're still playing in CHL playoffs (like Byram) but it looked like USA was another gear quicker/faster than Canada.

Although he seems to be a polarizing player as far as how he has been evaluated so far, Sikura fits this description as well.

Agreed, both he and Kahun could be rock solid bottom 6'ers with ability to go top 6 for spells. Both are keepers and what is needed for Cup contention.

Polarizing player by posters, team assessment, media? Who is making claims against him, is what I'm asking. First time I've heard it, to be honest AEL_Fox.
