OKAY, time for a little blaspheming crazy talk ... what if ...

What if Kelly and the big shooter talent evaluators determine Cole Caufield is as good as DeBrincat and what if they find a team that has a d-man they would be willing to part with for our diminutive 40+ goal scorer, and what if that team has 2 d-men we would like to acquire and would like Gustafsson in return, with the Hawks adding whatever else is needed.

Draft Cole Caufield #3.

To EDM: DeBrincat, Gustafsson, whatever else is needed (Mitchell? and/or Kahun? and/or picks?)
To CHI: Nurse, Klefbom

I’m confused, what do you mean by “what if”?

Draft Caufield and keep DeBrincat, that’s the way to go.

Keep your eye on the prize
A line from the old Starsky and Hutch television show song
Just what is the prize
To win? To trade or acquire Keith
Nkt sure it is a win for us
We may need Keith for a good season
Florida could sure use him though

Another eye on the prize
Well Bears have eye on tbeir Iowa State rb last couple years
According to general knowledge on campus (my cheerleader niece says)
Now there is hope in the new addition to the offense

A much better reference than Starsky and Hutch, I think:

Idk if it will drive ticket sales, but the initial and subsequent meltdowns it will cause Wonthecup10 to have, will likely drive traffic higher in these parts.

Has there been any talk of Scott Stevens being interested in another coaching role? Seeing him on the nhl network, I was wondering if he was trying to keep his face out there for such an opportunity. He seemed to have received high praise for his last coaching role in Minnesota and listening to him on the nhl network, he seems to do an excellent job breaking down plays and explaining the importance of defensive zone engagement, especially in terms of boxing out guys in front of the net. I think a voice like his could be huge in the blackhawks locker room as we address our defensive struggles.

I too am intrigued by him as a coach. I wonder how he would/would not clash with Colliton and how he wants to do things. Also i bet that Stevens aspires to a head coaching job or at minimum a job where he is given reigns to call the shots on the defense. It could be the primer leading to a head coaching job. Don't see it in Chicago..

Am thinking D King will be a yes man who is shown or given help to teach whatever Colliton has. Supponen (?name ?) Was rehired with King.

i would have to try not to have a meltdown

Also try not to have a meltdown if they take Hughes or a dman. Trading down for a lesser rated player is not a good idea.

While you may like the player who still might be available, the top six is the top tier according to wiz. We need first to add as high a quality then if talent level is close...... this team benefits MOST by adding where there is a dire need......whomever the choice is top tier

Not saying Hughes would not help. Not saying Kaako would not help - he probably would be great. But if Cozens is the real deal then you let him develop for one or two years at Wisconsin.

You cannot go against the quality research wiz has done. The under 18 or whatever tournament he is currently playing is not a blanket statement as to rating players. For one, some players might be more advanced. Read everything wiz says about Cozens. It would appear you have to take him or Kaako and the other forwards people like are between #4-#10 or so.

I doubt very much that Caufield goes #3 but his stock increases and he could go higher than mid first.

Personally i would think very hard about the russian ahead of him. Because i like the things the Russian would bring. The thing that is a roadblock with this Russian: does he like the city, the teamattes and will do well on a line he plays on. Anything that goes against each of those only fuels speculation that he could be happier in Russia. But i would bet that he wants to play in the best league in the world and see how it goes.

And another thing. Caulfield will have to learn the art of escapism a la Martin St Louis. Caufield i do not think is thick and survives the rigors of physical play as a DeBrincat has.

The Caufield talk reminds me of Z3 poster who wanted that forward last year. Looking for a steal.

You know TT took a few years before this break out season. The adjustment to physical man's league is a challenge. While i would expect that Caufield has ability to produce in NHL, he has to do it in his stature in a land of giants. Just sayin' Darth Kane that his skill alone is not a sure guarantee.

I think if their plan was to draft Caufield, they will trade down and collect more draft picks

over on the Hf board a person had some really good things to say at Bowen at his playoff game today. had 2 pts including a shorty. its in the propepect section. I think he might be able to jump into NHL next year. turns 18 in June so he is on the younger side of the draft class.

Makes sense

I will take this opportunity to ask you
Segway

Who wins the nyi Carolina series? Anything stand out that could be a deciding factor. I see and.hear different things about the strength of each team's defensive effort. I question if either netminder might let in some weak goals. And i really wonder how big a force Barzal could be. He was a beast digging pucks and in front of net in juniors. There are several under rated forwards both teams.

And just want to point out tbe incredible scoring talent & depth San Jose has. I bet a couple of the lesser light forwards wind up on expansion Seattle. Do they know the way to ....Seattle? Know the song i hint at?

Reminder: sweet carolin if they advance. Play that song. Tribute to Neil Diamond who announced that he has Alzheimers

The U18 USA v Russia game is on the NHL channel at 7:30 tonight. Get a chance to see Podkolzin for Russia and all the USNDTP guys for USA. I'll be switching back and forth between that and the CLB/BOS game.

Was it on TV earlier? I know the game was played earlier today but didn't know it was on TV. Doesn't matter - I'm not too concerned with the outcome of the game - just want to get a look at some players in game action.

Likewise, now that Byram's Vancouver team is in the WHL finals I hope some of those games will be televised.

Bob with a terrible goal to give up. Have never really trusted him in the playoffs since his horrible performance against the Pens a couple years ago.

Of course, but that goal was horrible. Still, that guy hasn't impressed me when they get to post season. That's what makes Crawford so awesome. In post season he's a beast. Bob is your great regular season goalie. I'd be shocked if he ever tends a team to a Cup. I'd rather have many goalies than him for the post season.

On edit: Just checked his numbers, yep, his post seasons stats are markedly worse than his regular season stats. Wouldn't want him near my team.
