Are there any conditions on the Johansson pick?

Out of the blue comment here but I think the music they play at the rock in between plays and such, sucks. It has been the same bs for a long time now. Watching the playoffs here and throughout the year I hate that Philly and Boston, among other teams have way better music than we do. Just my opinion. I hope they change it.

I think the Devils have to find a way to get back into the top 5 after selecting Hughes

They need to pair up Hughes-Caufield, these two are ridiculous together

Like the idea but good luck with that. He’s probably going to get picked earlier now but was a top 15 pick before going crazy...

Hughes currently with a goal and 2 assists in the bronze medal game against Canada. Up to 32 all-time points at the tournament breaking Ovechkin's record of 31. He now has 20 points in the tournament, Kucherovs single tournament record is 21. Still a little over a period to play

Edit: Bronze for the USA. Hughes ends in the tournament lead with 20 points(9g, 11a). Only the second player in the tournament's history to reach 20 in one tournament, Kucherov is the other. I assume he'll take home the tournament MVP in back to back years

Cam York and Alex Newhook are also some juicy picks. Philip Broberg for Sweden still has rocket legs. Some kid named Raphael Lavoie is kicking the crap out of the QMJHL with a goal per game in the playoffs. No doubt he's charging up draft lists given his size.

Too bad NJ didn't have more firsts. This year's first round has a good deal of talent in it.

The only way they are getting back into the first round is to trade next year’s first with the lowest 2nd and a decent prospect or something else. Or move someone established like Vats. Could try to get Lou Lams to bite on Zajac plus picks. Lou likes him.

Realistically I don’t see it happening unless there is a salary cap strapped team and we take an awful contract like Lucic. 1st are obtainable at the trade deadline but they become real valuable near draft day.

Zajac is still very useful as a defensive player, faceoff man and a leader. We shouldn't trade him.

I like him but his value is going to drop like a stone and if you can get a decent 1st round pick, I’d take it. I’m assuming we have to add Zajac +.

if you think Zajac had a lot of trade value ever you'd be mistaken.

Also, if you think taking on Lucic's contract is worth anything you are an idiot.

That time of the month Pommy?

I’m just saying Lou likes him and was interested in trading Bozak for him at one point. Zajac has a decent year so he might be worth something. Did you think Lovejoy or Boyle were worth what we got?

Taking on a bad contract is clearly of value to the team needing cap relief. If you’re disputing that your the idiot.

Hughes was awesome. Also if he wasn't trying so hard in the end to set up Caufield (who twice missed an bbn open net) to break Ovechkin's record he might have scored again himself. True team player.

Rather take on Callaghan's contract, only one year left. Then that and a second to move into teens. Another pipe dream.

What do you guys think of trading back into the 1st round to get Arthur Kaliyev ?

Caulfield would be my first choice but we would probably have to give up more to trade for a pick that would get him.

I wouldnt mind it, idk where he'd end up going though. If someone falls i wouldnt mind trying to trade back up into the 20s, but trying to go any higher would probably just cost too much and not make it worth it. A month ago we could've probably tried to trade back up to get Caufield in the early-mid 20s, but theres no chance of that happening now as he's practically guaranteed to go top 10. I'm perfectly okay trading up into the back of the first round to get someone if a guy on our board falls. Other than that i expect our plethora of picks will be used to bring in immediate help

Call me crazy, but I think Zajac is going to remain useful for the remainder of his contract.

If Hughes setting a U18 record, passing future HOF's is any indication, this is a good sign.

Kinda like when Reid Boucher broke the record 58 goals held by Steve Stamkos in the OHL? Cause I want Jack Hughes but I can't stop thinking about it....

Reid's killing it for the Utica Comets at over a point per game.... can't get a whiff of the NHL....

Crazy!

But seriously, I think Zajac will be fine for the next two years even turning 34 and 35.
We just need to play him down in the lineup; which should be no problem considering we have five hundred centers.

I agree. His style of play ages well and he'll be getting 3rd line minutes with Hughes in the mix.
