Spector has reports that PK Subban may be available. Now that is something I would look into. $9m for 3 more years. What would it take to get him? They are looking for forward help. - adambuffalo
We roast Risto but want Subban ? He’s even worse defensively and double the cost.

There really, honestly, aren't many worse defensemen in their own end as Ristolainen. That said, PK makes too much money for the effectiveness he brings.
However
Risto has, believe it or not, improved every year in his own end.
ERod is a 3 / 4 tweener.
At $0.665 he was a complete steel. At $3m he is overpaid.
I'd be more likely to go on a short-term deal at $1.5 - $2.0m.
Rather than pay him for his assumed growth leads him to, let's pay him for what he has done.
And rather than have him play 3rd, put him on the 4th where he can excel.
The 4th line with Girgs and Larry flipped the ice nicely. But 13 goals between them just isn't good enough. Let those two walk along with dumping Sobotka
4th of Smith, ERod, Okpiso could reel some havoc and up the production as well. - IonSabres
The question was erod extended for 3 years at $3M total, $1M aav.

From EK's blog on Kadri...NhL e executives answer to the question of if they would trade for Kadri.
One Assistant GM out west says, "Absolutley. He has made some bad decisions, but there is plenty of value out there. Look around the NHL playoffs right now. One of the common factors is the value of players with sandpaper. Kadri's emotions have gotten the best of him one time too many for Dubas, but a trade and a new home may be able to fix that."
Another team, a guy in the Leafs own division noted, "It was a lame move, but we'd take him in a hearbeat. We play against him all the time and he is a royal pain in the ass...but you'd love to have him being a pain for others."
On NHL source said, "I think the interest is declining quickly. But it's a deal the Leafs will have to make, even if the value is artificially low. I don't see ANY way Kyle can sell his return."
Another team said, "Wouldn't touch him. No way. We have a particularly young team (as you know) and we are working on our culture. He would be a step backwards."
Which one is Buffalo? Hmmmm.
I like the quote about his value declining and the need for Dubos to trade him.
Be opportunistic Botts! A good quality for the Culture of Buffalo is being tough to play against, sticking up for your teammates, truculence!

The best way for them to build a strong culture right now would be to win. I think Kadri helps that on the ice right now.

Kadri killed himself with another crucial suspension. Kadri is a goner and should be blamed for their playoff loss. Toronto would rather have Kapanen for the same money. Kadri is out and they need D help. Do you take that opportunity or not. He is a 30 goal scorer.

Good post
We don't need kadri though, we're plenty tough.
Sam stands in front of the net sometimes, that's tough.
Hard to play against
I'm not sure if jbotts is that type of gm.

Muckler was - Boss34
I for one would take Kadri in a heartbeat. proven 30 goal guy, Young and cost controlled for the next 3 years.. That is exactly who Jbotts should be trying to get.
sure he make dumba$$ mistakes but if you are scoring me 30, I will look past it. We had Kane for 3 years and that dude did some stupid stuff outside of the rink... kadri's boneheaded while on the ice...
Can't take it fast enough!! If that did not work, I would be willing to go as high as my late first for both Kadri and Nikita Z...Then you can try and trade BOGO or Scandella or even Risto of the return is worth it

I'm on record as saying that I have warmed up to the idea.
Yes, but at a wholesale discounted price.
Cap Space is the biggest asset they get back.
The player exchanged is a virtual throw in.
Scandella at 50% retained.

I completely agree
Probably take a 3rd team though to make this trade happen.
Kadri being hard to play against, why would Toronto trade him to us

They would give you zaitsev for free. And laugh. Or is that lowering the price of acquiring Kadri
