We believe that you are the goalie now and in the future . We want to extend you two years
It must have been an impressive 10 NHL games .
They gave Markstrom a three year deal and it was when he was the back up - VANTEL
2015/16 and 2016/17 I think they gave him 1.5 million per year or a two year deal. |

Lou won't go on LTIR from what I've read. We will see what happens with Bob but it sounds like that's where he will go.
The question Benning should be asking Tallon is what will you throw in for us to take Reimer's salary.
Tippett would be my target.
Lind for Reimer and Tippett. - belcherbd
I hope he retires this summer then. |

Then after that ,when he was still backing up, they gave him a three year deal. You give your back ups a two year deal not your starters. |

It’s unlikely anyways, just feeding off Nuckers comments, if they can pay their starter a million a year and he performs, it’s a huge bonus for the teams cap. Not unlike a kid on his entry level deal.
I think Binnington is making 650K in St. Louis. |

I bet next year his new contract will be more than 2 years @1.05
From what I heard Canucks will probably go with Demko between 25 - 30 games and
Marky (last years MVP) getting the rest. |

I don’t think Benning will trade Markstrom, but it’s something that I thought was an interesting idea.
He’s not going to trust Demko with his job on the line. |

What would it take for you guys to trade Markstrom? Like pick/prospect wise.
He's one of the few true veteran "sell high" candidates at 29 years old and coming off of what is considered to be his best season.
It's a ballsy move since you put a lot of faith into Demko moving forward, and would have to go into free agency needing to sign a goalie to split starts with him. - Nucker101
I'm in.
A 1st (if remotely possible) or second and a high end prospect at any position.
Like you said, sign a veteran to a reasonable ( ) contract to split the duties with Demko.

Careful. If they trade Markstrom this off season, we may end up with Bobrovsky on big long term contract. - boonerbuck
With Ian Clark here I could totally see this happening |

Yes for sure. Trading Markstrom would mean you’re signing a quality backup or starter to see if Demko is for real. It’s a huge leap of faith.
That said, we’ve seen lots of one year wonder goaltenders, Markys had one good year, nothing says he can do it again. |

It only makes sense to get more assets and then sign a decent ufa starter for free. Demko needs to steal the starter job, no time like the present. |

I know Marleau has a NMC but I wonder what Toronto would give up to pawn that contract off on the Canucks. One year of him with Petey and Boeser would let Boldy (said prospect) develop for a year. |

I think if the right deal comes in he will trade Markstrom in an instant and sign a vet back up.
If Jim Benning can make the team better right now.
Calgary doesn't have a signed goalie.
Buffalo only has a back up signed.
Carolina doesn't have a goalie signed.
Columbus with no goalie signed.
Philly only has Hart signed so far.
Ottawa could use a goalie, Anderson is old.
I don't know if a draft pick unless it's a 1st will do it. A prospect that's very close to NHL ready might do it. |

It appears Ryan Dzingel will be a healthy scratch for the #BlueJackets for Game 2. He was one of the last players off the ice in an optional morning skate that lasted an hour. When asked to chat afterwards, Dzingel replied “no, not today.” #NHL #Senators #NHLplayoffs
Wennberg in for Dzingel. Torts..... |
