Why is it that we follow the same formula year after year?
Great playoff expectations for Leafs.
Leafs lose on scoreboard but Leaf fans insist they outplayed the other team.
Corsi show how Leafs were dominated and spanked.
Leaf fans complain about officiating.
Summer season finally begins and Leaf fans start talking about the Leafs as certain Stanley Cup finalist. Year after year we repeat the same cycle.
It is amazing as we go from one step to the next and nobody ever uses the word choke.

Leafs fans sure used it for the Lightning though which is why I loved seeing TO eliminated first round also. |

Clearly you didnt watch any Flyer games. Provorov had nothing to do with the team not making it. The only thing he could have done differently was not struggle through the 1st half of the season. Even then the whole team struggled then. |

Clearly you didnt watch any Flyer games. Provorov had nothing to do with the team not making it. The only thing he could have done differently was not struggle through the 1st half of the season. Even then the whole team struggled then.

Let's hope someone offer sheets him. I'd love to see Toronto in Cap hell. They can't keep everyone together that they have and win. They will either let him walk on an offer sheet or match/sign him and trade Nylander.

What happens if someone offersheets him, Leafs let him go, get 4 1st rounders and then sign a UFA like Panarin (Toronto was his #2 choice behind Chicago when he signed in the NHL)?
Not quite "Hell".
I notice no one ever mentions the whole 4 1st rounders. That could set the Leafs up even better.

yea only kapi and johnnson are viable offersheet targets on the leafs roster. If a GM is brave enough to sign one of them to around $4.25-6M/yr, that may be enough to make Dubas walk away and the compensation would be a 1st and a 3rd round pick. Its highly unlikely that either would get an offersheet that is more than $5M. Both are capable top-6 forwards but marginal top line (even leafs started the season with both in the bottom six and Nylander contract hold out helped both). Leafs will match any contract Under $10M for Marner and no other team is going to offer him $10M+ because the true cost would be $10+M and 4 first rounders. not many contenders with that kind of cap space and not many rebuilding teams will take that risk |
