Why do ppl like Donskoi?
And on the Top Line?
U aren’t the only one I’ve seen suggest him
What’s the attraction?
Just seems like an average player to me - jdfitz77
Very good scoring numbers in limited minutes.
Since the beginning of last year his goals/60 in right outside the top 100, ranking near guys like Scheifele,Marchessault, Barzal.
I think he can easily score 20-25 in Pommers role |

On the younger end of all of the available UFA's, could play the two way role on the top line because someone needs to be able to play defense, and has proven to be a strong even strength goal scorer in a bottom 6 role in SJS (where he has also shown the ability to play up and down the lineup). |

He would be a great bottom 6 option for us. |

I would like to know also sure on the 3rd line ...he’s likely going to get 1m to 2m so that’s fine for the 3rd Line - gerbe75pts
Yeah, as a 3rd liner he’s fine
My only issue with that is we have so many bottom6 guys right now that we need to get rid of some- not add |

Idk that he’ll have that jump you’re looking for
Seems like an average speedy player to me
Maybe his stats do jump with more icetime
But that doesn’t happen with everyone |

You think he’s honestly going to become a 25 goal score with more minutes ?what happens if more minutes / on the top line he struggles and becomes Ristolainen like (meaning less minutes is a good thing )
I would be pretty angry if the sabres signed him and decided OK there is our first line player with no backup plan if he becomes a Ville Leino |

I guess i wouldn’t hate trying him with Jack or Mitts with his speed & 2way play
But i think we need to focus more on top end guys & getting some kids in the lineup
Are u the one who’s suggested Tanev?
That seems like a good fit for our bottom6,
but we’ve gotta clear out some guys if we are gonna add players like him &/or Donskoi imo |

You wanted Okposo with Eichel, right?
You don’t think a guy who had 14 goals in a bottom 6 role can do the same as what you think Okposo could do with #9?
Donskoi has 25 5 on 5 goals in the last two years.
Ryan O’Reilly has 25 |

I think Jack Eichel is a superstar who can turn a good 3rd liner who’s proven he can put the puck in the net into a 20-25 goal guy, yes. And would be cheap.
Of course ideally you want someone better but that’s easier said than done |

Ryan O’Reilly has 25 - sbroads24
That’s totally different though
I’ve wanted Okposo &/or Sheary with Jack in order to up their stats to the point where we could trade them/up their value
It’s not like i think we’d be a good team with either playing with Jack
But yeah...
i suppose it makes sense that Donskoi could score 20 with Jack
I suppose if he’s cheap, then why not?
You’re probably reaching with 25goals though
And are we better off with him there,
or playing one of the kids?
And Jesus... O’Reilly again?
He is a FAR FAR FAR better player than Donskoi
For the record,
it was AGAIN you who brought up ROR |

The Ruby Red Kolsch is the best beer I've ever had by Genesee - jcragcrumple
It’s a fruity summery beer - not hot enough outside for that beer yet - and even then I think I’d prefer a Bock in March to a Kolsch in August. |

Id offer 3-4 years at 2-3 mil for Donskoi, and hopefully by year 2-3 he’s on our 3rd line. I’d of course rather have a legit 30 goal scorer there but we don’t know if that’s truly an option |

Yes but he’d be our best bottom 6 forward the day he signed his deal. Everyone loves Erod but realistically he’s a 4th line guy but our bottom 6 is so bad that we treat the guy like he’s our Nazem Kadri. |

He'd have been our 4th best forward this year. We're painfully lacking 2 way forwards and our RW depth chart is non-existent. He checks a lot of boxes, more than most.

I’ve brought up Tanev a few times as well. Adding him and Donskoi and removing Girgensons, Sobotka and that’s a huge difference already. A third or 4th line of Tanev-Erod-Donskoi would be beautiful. |

Agreed. He’d be a top target if I’m JB.
I’m not saying he’s Marchessault but there are similarities |

I struggle to see how Tanev and Donskoi would be 4th liners here. They'd both be quality, lower key signings. I think that's where JB is going.

I said third or 4th. They’d be our third line tomorrow. Hopefully though we build enough depth that one day they’d be part of a elite 4th line. |

I know, I'm agreeing with you. I just think we're so short on solid two way forwards, that they are part of the top 9 a little longer. If Girgs, Larsson, and Sobotka are gone, suddenly ERod and Sam are the best defensive forwards? Ouch. Of the prospects, only Asplund is regarded as a strong defensive prospect. Issue just gets worse when you look at RW. |
