This is a good find and a similar response. Mine was just going to be a garbage truck grabbing a garbage can and flinging it around. |

It's not so much getting rid of him a la Girgensons, Okposo, Sobotka etc, it's moreso using him as a trade chip to make a step forward, addition by subtraction. I like Risto but Christ is he bad in his own end. It's been shown that proper usage can help him, AND he has honestly improved in his own end year over year. He's just.. well.. other than the physicality, which is great.. he's a redundancy. He's no longer needed on either PP, as those spots can and will go to Dahlin and Montour. And that's where he thrives. He drives PP's, at least he did until this year. All in all, Risto is likely worth more to someone else than he is to us, which will help this team improve (that's the hope) when he's traded. - TheSabresTaco
This was risto's worst year defensively in the past 3 or 4.
He has regressed |

Vegas may be the team to target. They sit at $82.5m cap with only 17 players signed. - adambuffalo
I like will Karlsson at our 2C
Gonna cost us, but if we get the swedish coach, this might be a great match. |

Botts likes Ullmark. He penciled him in last year, and he did the same this year. UPL isn't starting here. Larsson

So it's a Risto and Trouba swap, and I believe Trouba's value is minimally better. So maybe, I dunno, keep it at Risto, Larsson, 3rd for Trouba and Perrault. However, I think WGP really likes all of their 4th line, so may simply not see a use for Larrson. |

I know Risto's stats kill him and he is not loved here. But, in addition to all the stats/analysis, consider that he has never played at this level with a quality group of forwards. If forwards don't backcheck and/or they miss their defensive assignments, the D stats get worse. He has not been great with the puck in our zone but if forwards are not in a good position for a breakout pass, or are covered and don't skate to get open, the D have no choice but to wrap it around the boards, fire it off the glass, or worse take an extra second to try to find someone open - and then turn the puck over. It is not always the D mans fault.
And what about the talent level of the goalies since he's been here?
Risto's got size and grit, can skate pretty well and is still young. I'd love to see him play with better talent before we give up on him. |

The talk in Winnipeg is that if they don't sign Trouba by the draft the Philly could be a trading partner giving up Patrick and a 1st for Trouba. Also Detroit, NYR and Florida are in trade talks. There is no shortage of teams that would want Trouba so some of these trade proposals from the Sabres would be a no go from the Jets perspective. |

I understand and respect your thinking, use the old:
"Its not you, It's me"
He is tough and talented but the team has a bigger needs and he is the best movable asset to acquire those needs. Its a high risk trade that could end up like the Hall trade so hopefully Botts has his plate of nachos before pulling the trigger.

If you want 31 points and a -8 from a center, we can offer Evan Rodrigues. He wasn't drafted 2OA, well he wasn't drafted at all, but he's faster than Nolan Patrick. We can even throw in a late first |

Pegula will give the Peg 18% stake in PSE and drill some wells for the city to keep if you take Fitz with you |

He's an RFA and they're already in cap hell without his contract
I brought him up a week or so ago. Yost wrote an article in the Buffalo News about him.
I really like the idea. |

I still think I take Trocheck over Karlsson.
As for Trouba, let other teams overpay for him. Winnipeg can fleece more than a few teams but Buffalo isn't going to be one of them.
poop, i would offer Ristolainen straight up but that's it unless we are talking sign and trade. |

Nice article.
To Buffalo: Trouba and Perreault
To Winnipeg: Ristolainen and _______
Sheary?
Allow me throw a wrench in here:
To Buffalo: Trouba and Ehlers
To Winnipeg: Ristolainen and Reinhart
You want culture change? That's your culture change. Straight-up hockey trade

I think we’d still have to at least take Perrault to help their Cap
Maybe even have to add another piece |

It's not pretty, but it didn't sneak up on them. Have to think they had a plan when they dealt for Stone. I'd be surprised if that was to deal Karlsson.

I don’t think Trouba is a great idea for us
1) he’ll cost a lot to trade for
2) will he even want to sign here?
3) and if he does... at least 8mil per, right?
4) if Dahlin is who we think he is, do we NEED to pair him with a “Trouba” type guy?
-Hedman with Straalman
-Karlsson with (anyone really)
-Keith with Hjarmalsson
All these Star Defensemen didn’t need to play with another “Star” to be effective,
just a solid & steady partner
That’s the type of guy we should be looking to pair with Dahlin for the future-
not an $8mil guy
We need to use that $$$ up front |

Good point
But he did “disappoint” this year
And they do have major Cap issues
Some guys they don’t want to lose are gonna have to go |
